With the 91st pick, Green Bay selected Finley.

Congrats to him!

Not bad at all considering ppl were saying he wouldn't go before the 5/6 round.

3rd-round pick: Texas TE Jermichael Finley

The Packers started the day by selecting Texas tight end Jermichael Finley with their third-round pick, No. 91 overall.

The 6-4, 243-pound Finley, 21, entered the draft after his redshirt sophomore season, so teams had limited videotape to study. He caught 31 passes as a redshirt freshman, then 45 for a 12.8-yard average last season. Ran the 40 in 4.66 seconds at his campus workout.

"We felt like he's a talented kid who can get up the field. He has excellent hands, is very athletic," General Manager Ted Thompson said after the draft.

Strengths: Quick-twitch athlete with the speed to get downfield. Flashes big-play capabilities. Adjusts well to poorly thrown and low passes, showing good body control while contorting in the air and can make difficult grabs. Has the speed to run away from linebackers. Has performed well against better competition.

Weaknesses: Narrow-framed and lacks girth. Plays with too much finesse and needs to spend more time in the weight room and get stronger. Not a polished route runner, rounds off his breaks and drifts ot of routes. Does not sell his routes. Lacks functional strength.

Highlights: Left school after a sophomore season in which he started all 13 games and earned all-Big 12 honors with 45 receptions for 575 yards and two touchdowns. … Came to Texas weighing 205 pounds and spent first year on scout team, learning from New England Patriots tight end David Thomas. … As a redshirt freshman in 2006, played in 13 games (four starts) and had 31 catches for 372 yards and three touchdowns and earned freshman all-America honors. … In 26 career games (17 starts), had 76 receptions — fourth among Texas tight ends — for 947 yards and five touchdowns. He recovered a fumble for another touchdown.

What a steal for the Packers. This just might make Brett decide to come back out of retirement!
