I hope they go with a Cornerback alongside Robinson.

I just watched them go over the Texans draft board and I think Rogers-Cromartie or Mike Jenkins is a great pick at #18.

Thoughts?

ttt

Need a corner or O lineman.

At this point, take a corner.

Namely Rogers Cromartie, or Jenkins.

I'd go with corner now

Wait a minute, I'd draft a center... Cody Wallace out of A&M ;)

have to disagree with the switch

have to get the best athlete in the first round=-it can come back to haunt you

I think it really sucks to trade down

yah, big gamble to get set back 8 spots... that's 7 chances for your athlete to vanish out of the pot... but I'm almost sure they knew what atleast 3 of the teams were gunna do and are betting on the other teams doing something that would not have a negative impact on their chances...

we'll see what happens...

we'll see what happens... I bet they take Mike Jenkins at 26 or whatever they are drafting now.

Just might. My bet is they had 4-5 guys they wanted at #18, but if gone then trade back & acquire picks (like Chris Williams & Brandon Albert already gone). Need LT & CB help.

Getting more picks makes up for losing 2nd rounder (Schaub) & 6th rounder (C Myers). Still hard to pass at #18 on RB Mendenhall among others...he may still be there at #26 but would be surprising. I like that guy.

Maybe OL Charles Spencer is doing better in rehab from injury & can play next year...see it to believe it.

Yes, look on the NFL draft tracker. Go to the 3rd & 6th rounds and they show Texans getting the picks. The 3rd pick is #89 overall.

Gotcha - still mixed on trade back. Better make some darn good mid round picks. In Gary Kubiak & Rick Smith I trust...

Cowboys should talk to Seattle about moving ahead of Houston to get Jenkins....

Good call Matthew - Texans are gonna be 2nd guessed big-time for whom they have passed up. It better work out for their sake.

needed a lineman, good pick I think

I trust Alex Gibbs on this one - the man knows OL play. Duane Brown is a converted TE w/ great feet. Time will tell...but highly questionable based on moving down & who they passed up.

I agree about the move down being questionable... I think they needed a corner before an OL... but they did good grabbing a good OL while they could...

I know nothing about this guy, but he looks big and athletic. Kiper says it's a bit early for him to go, but hey.

I said they needed a corner or O line and they got O line.

 I like the pick.

he was rated ahead of some of the OT already taken.
REMEMBER
Terrell Davis was a 6th round pick behind a very athletic smaller Oline.
This young man has unbelievable good feet.
He can move with their zone scheme.

I'll trust one of the top 3 OL coaches in NFL history over Mel Kiper, Jr. anyday of the week! Gibbs was a great hire to fix the running game & bring toughness & his zone scheme to Houston. I bet he makes a player out of Brown.

Got an early 3rd & 6th back too, so not all bad if we make it count. Two 3rd round picks are HUGE picks for Houston.

I love the pick. We're finally addressing the line. We need to build inside-out... I don't care about CB.

Exactly. My buddy played with Terrell Davis at Long Beach (who later transferred to Georgia when George Allen died & dropped program). He was a nobody back then. Denver found a gem & had the right scheme to make it work. I am hoping Gibbs can do the same thing in Houston.

Russ - agreed. OL has been Achilles Heel for 6 years! Build inside-out like we are doing on defense.

After reviewing the draft & hearing what Kubiak & Smith had to say (yes they are going to spin it I know), I feel better about the picks.

--They claim to have targeted LT Brown all along & were able to acquire 2 more picks in the process of trading down (3rd & 6th). Alex Gibbs wanted this guy as long as 6 wks. ago so they say...

--CB taken in 3rd round was projected as a 2nd rounder, may be a player in time. Good size, 4.4 guy, & long arms. Small school stud. DBs coach Jon Hoke worked him out personally & liked him.

--LB from VT can play & will help; very athletic & loves to hit; a bit small for NFL LB but so are others who have made it big.

--Slaton may be that situational back we have craved; can return kicks too; speed to burn.

--Safety in 6th has good blood lines & great special teams player; brother of Dallas' Marion Barber III.

--Okam is a true NT whose motor doesn't run all the time; he can play when motivated. Texans say they interviewed him prior to Draft & heard positive things about his motivation & desire to play in NFL. Hopefully he can free up Okoye from double teams & take some pressure off him.

Only time will tell, but I trust Kubiak & Smith in the resurrection from horrible to on the brink of the playoffs.
