It is a warm up game but it is scary as the Lady Pirates play a good 5A school. Hang onto your hats.
And in baseball Aransas Pass is a good team capable of giving you fits.

Not an easy ride for the Sinton teams tonight. :(

we have a warmup gamet tonight against (4A)Mercedes...

31-3A should sweep the first round against 32-3A...

I'm looking foward to watching the Raymondville vs Cuero/Orange Grove game...any info on these two teams?

still good program with an excellent coach...but not quite where they have been...only scored six against bandera in years past they would have run ruled them.....team in this region that might make a little noise is Lytle....they have some good ball players and pitching is ok (I thought they played hard when I saw them)...and are battle tested.... but still gotta go with Medina Valley as the favorite to take the region with Yoakum and Sinton just a small step behind them.

2 in a row! West Columbia was in Region IV when they won in 2006, and Medina valley in 2007.

TOOT THAT HORN!

I think the argument has always been - Look at the depth and quality of the final 4 teams from each region, or the final 8 from each region for that matter - Region III is the DEEPEST region, which gets confused with the STRONGEST region.

I should have rephrased my question.....which of those teams coming into region IV from III will have the most coming back? those are all great programs....who is young this season and who has possibly the top pitcher returning....thanks in advance.

if i remember right w.columbia was very underclassman heavy when they won two seasons ago.

I'm not really sure. I THINK Bellville is young this year, while WC has a lot of Srs, but I'm not sure. I'm too far away to know that many particulars, but close enough to follow their progress and relative strength.

Bellville pitcher is a Junior. LG has only 1 senior this year. Giddings will lose a couple, but should still be strong. Columbus is losing a pitcher, but has another one standing in line. Sealy is young as well.

Medina Valley has a good mix of srs and jrs...but the pitchers are both jrs...... Sandahl from Drip is strong.... had split time the past few seasons in the circle...but now it's hers....she has good supporting cast around her and coach Tuck is both a great coach and person....

Medina Valley had dropped a few in the last few weeks...lost to Pleasanton in a shocker (dist game)....and O'Conner.

other losses are to NB Canyon, Alamo Hts and I think maybe San Marcos...not too sure about that one.

I think they are getting "weak" and "depth" confused. I know MV is a great program...started back when Chic### M@### coached them. Has been strong ever since. Strong contender in 4A back a few years ago, dominate in 3A, and will remain a force to be dealt with.

NastySlot
04-27-2008, 10:27 PM
Medina Valley was solid in 3A before C. Mason got there....the passion for the game got stronger with coach Mason...who last I heard still teaches there and give lessons....MV made an appearence in the 3A state tourney...moved up and didn't miss a beat......they did have a hicup season ... I think three years ago...when they lost a district seeding tie breaker (mini tourney) with Hts. Tivy and Boerne......Coach Womack has carried on the tradition.......the girls from MV are good athletes and are successful in other sports but that is a softball (and baseball) town.

Something that I have always found strange is that Natalia, Devine, MV and even D'Hanis are all very good year in year out in softball....so how the heck did Hondo get left out?

I am still stumped on how Pleasanton missed out on a playoff seed. You beat the top seed in the district/state, and you still miss out on the playoffs. That win happened the first half of district, figured those kids would have been on top of the world (no one can bet us type attitude). Go figure.

This is the point I was trying to make in another post. Reg IV has the last 2 State Champs in W. Columbia and Medina Valley, but if you look at the top 4 or top 8 from each Region, Region III will have more STRONG teams in those 4 or 8, which equates to "depth", confused by some as "strength".

That Bellville pitcher has been pitching for 5-6 years, or least it seems like it. With the addition of the new 25 & 26 district, R4 will be very tough.

Are you saying a region is stronger if it has the state champs, even though it may not have any more good quality teams?

Example: R4 has the #1 team & R3 has the #2, #3, #4, #5, #6 teams. I would say R3 is the stronger region, but R4 had the best team.

but what if those teams ranked from region come from only one or even two districts?.....does that make it an over all strong region?

No - Exactly the opposite. There are, in my opinion, MORE quality teams in Reg III than Reg IV, but Reg IV has had the BEST TEAM the last 2 years.......

So true. If 4 are ranked and only 3 make it...is it stronger. Not really, still lack the depth.
