We've already got a discussion going about the qb's. Now for the rb's.

Does your high school's rb return for the 08 season?

If not, is there a front runner to take over the starting position?

No, and probably so, but I'll need to ask my "inside source" how it's looking right now. ;)

Is there a front runner or are there front runners?

Think I'm correct; but Burnet will return Bubba Richards (1st team all 25-4A) at RB.

Possibles: Dusty Boyd, Jimmy Johnson, Tyler Lawhorn and/or Brent Whitbeck (RB spots) (from the "players to watch out for" thread)

Forney will have one of the top 3 in the DFW area. Had 1500 yards last year. Coming from KA, he would be top 3 in the state if he went to a 3a school. Think a smaller quicker version of Jacquizz Rodgers.
he is a better pure football player than dabryan blanton
We will still suck though.

Bellville returns Garrett Nunn. He's a beast. He would rather go through you than around you. I've seen him carry three guys on his back into the endzone. He ran great on a below average team last year. With lots of returning starters, he should have a great season.

everyone watch out for Sweetwaters RB's. Fields, Jackson, and McCann are going to be an unstopable force

Gilmer lost its starting RB Justin Johnson to graduation (University of Oklahoma). His backup, Jeremy Jackson, will most likely get the nod as the starter this year. Jackson should fill in nicely. As a backup last year, Jackson broke for several long TD runs. This young man is small but VERY fast. There won't be many players that'll be able to catch him from behind. It'll definitely be a different look, though, going from a big power runner to a small and fast scatback. I'm anxious to see the transition.

I have to agree about Nunn from Bellville, he is your powerback. Also learned that he placed 2nd the the 100 at the district track meet. He must also have some speed. My guess he is about 215-220 lbs.

Is Liberty Hill the Denver Broncos of Texas High School Football? They make 1000 yard rushers out of ANYONE....

Kind of like Tech and QB's...get the starting gig and you too can throw for 4,000+ in a season...

Even though Abilene Wylie usually spreads the rushing yards among 3 or 4 different RB's, they had one returner that probably would have still rushed for over 1500 yards next season. Heard the other day that he may never get to play Football again because of a non football related head injury. If this is true, Wylie fans will miss watching him. He was a very exciting player to watch.

2008 Expect to hear these names

Quinn Taylor (sr)
Eric Rimes (soph)
David Bradshaw (soph)

All have exceptional speed & power. They can run over you, through you and around you.

I think Rockdale graduated Kortlin White but will have Cois Walker to step right in...

I know we're losing Corey Burr & Jordan Longoria in the backfield. I'm gonna assume Zach Green will be back there. He came in and was a load & looked really good last season. BwdLion_80 will probably have more information on all this.

VAN

Bad news: we lost the best RB in the state to OU

Good news: his younger brother will be a senior and has the ability to be very good if he can stay healthy. A little smaller at about 200lbs but just as fast. We also have a couple other good RB's.

Tucker at Tyler Chapel Hill will be one of the best in the state.

Next year? Surely McCann is a Sr. by now. I plan to go to Sweetwater's graduation next spring just to make sure he walks across that stage, so that we don't have to try and block or tackle him anymore.
