they picked to be the penguins because the the team was going to play in an "Igloo", the nickname of the Pittsburgh Civic Arena in the 60's

If San Jose wins Dallas gets them because it would be 2,5 and Detroit would be 1, 6

so the seeds that have won in the western confrence is 1,5,6, and lets say that san jose wins then 2 .....so 1 would play 6 and 2 would play 5 so it would be

detroit vs colorado

san jose vs dallas...

but if calgary won they are a 7 seed....so it would be

detroit vs calgary

dallas vs colorado wouldn't it?
