Great work as always. FYI, even though I realize you are concentrating on the 6 major sports listed above:

I might add that Sweeny also won a Boys' State Track Title too (Coach Doug Reid) during this time & finished 2nd a couple of other heartbreaking times (lost by 1 pt.) as well.

In 1985, our girls' basketball team (Coach Jerry English) lost in the State Finals after leading by 16 pts. in the 2nd half. Sweeny's girls lost 6/9 years in the State Finals & never won it all. We won the boys' title for the 3rd time in 4 years that spring (Coaches R. Miksch & R. Washington), as well as baseball (Coach Melvin Loesch). Football made a deep playoff run too. Had an individual tennis champ as well. It was quite a year in many sports for the Bulldogs.

The 1980s as a whole were very good times for Sweeny in athletics. Credit to the coaches, players, administrators, & community for a great ride. I was lucky to be a part of it & cherish the memories & friendships.

Note: Coach Jerry English did eventually win a State Title at Dripping Springs after all the near misses. He now coaches at Marble Falls Faith Academy. He is top 5 all-time in wins for hs girls' basketball & top 3 among active coaches. Absolutely a fabulous coach who adapts to changing personnel & has won with different styles of play.

Jasper won state team championships in track in 1975, 85, 91, and 97.

And Jasper girls won state in 91, same night as the boys won state. I wonder how many other times that has happened.

It may not be much, but Jasper considered it all major. ;)

We are perhaps even more proud of having two athletes in the 96 Olympics, but that is definitely off topic. :D

Nice work 87. I was going to say, if you added team tennis into it, then Wylie would be a third school with titles in more than 2 sports.

 hmm Sinton could've had 6 titles if things would've worked out, one in football 2001 and one in baseball 2003;) other than that great info:)
