You all have to excuse me today while I choke on my emotion. Just wanted to share some of my thoughts...

"Senior Night for a Softball Mom -"

Time, hard work, sweat, blood
Helmets, gloves, bats, cleats -
Scrapes, strawberries, bruises
Sweet victories and bitter defeats.

Tee ball seems so long ago
And yet the time has flown -
One tournament after another
I’ve watched how you have grown.

USSSA, USFA and ASA
6 & Under to 18 & Under -
Junior Varsity and Varsity
You’ve played them all with wonder.

Gas money and concession stands
Oh, the memories we’ve made -
Fighting with perfect strangers
For that last spot in the shade.

Hitting slumps and perfect plays
You’ve given all you’ve had -
More trophies than one room can hold
Happy, heart-broken or downright mad.

I want to stand still in this one moment
And hope my heart won’t fall -
The last home game of your high school career
Head high, smile and let’s PLAY BALL!

I love you #2,

Mom

awwwww, are you reading that tonight?

Tonight is our parent's night too and as I'm sure you understand will be very emotional with one of our mom's recent death. :(

Very emotional for us too. We buried a softball mom April 5th and another of our girls lost her dad a few years ago. The girls will release 2 bundles of balloons to honor the missing parents after the game tonight.

Let me stop before I have to make a kleenex run. They just grow up SO fast!

Great now I'm crying too, same last game on Friday night for me too.. That is a good poem, I can't believe it is here already.
We love you #9, it will be so weird to see someone else wear your number. Go Lady Necks..... It has been a great ride, some silver and GOLD. Good luck to all if the playoffs are in your future.

That was great. I think it is true for any sport we/they play for the last home game.

At LE, 8 of our starters are seniors, and my daughter is the only junior. She has played with and against some of her teammates since she was 10, and feels like her family is leaving her. After the seniors and their parents were introduced before last night's game, sb4l's poem was read, a perfect ending for the senior tribute and beginning of the game. Very emotional night for everyone. LE shut out Pittsburg 6-0.
