keith7: no one left out or forgot gainsville. most of the people on this site disapprove of players spitting on the opposing teams 50 yard line (in this case, a 'C' for celina) at the coaches' signal during pregame warmups.

this shows classlessness and you should be ashamed that your town did it.

Actually, you guys made a fan out of me with your 50 yard FG a few years back to get to the state semis(or was it like 5 years ago). It was I believe, the same year Sinton beat yall(not to diminish yall's accomplishment) on Halloween. What a great game to listen to on the radio. Me and some buddies BBQed that night, sat around the fire(drank beer) and listened to that great game.

Wow, no one has Wimberley on their list...

Mine are:

Wimberley: covered them for two years for SM paper...they are my adopted kids, I'm a San Marcos alumn

Medina Valley: Damn they were a good 3A team...Medina Valley was the team that instilled my love of class 3A football. Every district game was a personal war. Jay Patterson was a great coach, and Emerson will bring them back

Blanco: They sold me when I watched them play Wimberley 3 years ago

Odessa Permian: don't know why

Randolph: Fell in love with their uniforms when watching them play Hays MANY years ago...really respected their program when they were 3a in district with Medina Valley

Burnet: back to the Abernathy days, when they played smash mouth wishbone football, and Coach Shipley is a great coach

Smithson Valley: My dad taught there when they sucked, coach Hill has done an AMAZING job (they probably didn't even have a WINNING season, let alone a playoff spot, until 10 years ago...oh, and BTW, one of the most beautiful school locations I've ever seen)

There are more, but those are my tops

Bellville22
12-28-2002, 02:51 PM
SINTON: Those guys are one of the top class acts of High School Football and HS Sports for that matter. They beat us in football and baseball last year deep in the playoffs, and showed amazing respect for our players and fans. We've built a great friendship with those guys. As long as they're not playing Bellville, I root for Sinton.

BANDERA: Underdogs pretty much the entire playoff run. Let no one stop them. Won me over in no time. Great coaches, kids play clean, with heart and desire. Wonderful fans, always complimentary of others, especially on here. Was thrilled to see them go on and win after beating us.

LAGRANGE: Although they're somewhat of a rival to us here in Bellville, and next to Sealy, there's probaby no one I'd rather beat, I find myself pulling for them alot when they're not playing us. One of the best coaches in the state in Valastro. Always seem to be in the mix.

BRENHAM: Neighboring town. Always pull for them to win the 4A.

MARLIN: Probably surprised to hear a Bellville fan say this. But they, along w/ my Bulls, showed me the greatest HS Football Game I've ever seen, and probably ever will see. Pretty cocky and like to talk alot, but I try to look past that and see some of the best athletes, and one of the most exciting teams around. Great respect for their ability, hope to build a good ol' fashion playoff rivalry with these guys.

To B_146: I think out stadium is probably the best one in 21-3A. We have a problem, Highest school taxation anywhere coupled with the lowest paid teachers salaries...A totally inefficient misuse of taxpayers money. They are building a new school on a matchbox piece of ground with no parking. Tragically, it is being built on one of the highest hazardous chemical traffic routes in either Texas or Louisiana. If they didn't just blow money around here, I could see that happening. But I would rather see SOME of the teachers get a good raise instead. You folks are lucky, you have a rich school District and good management. Be proud that you don't have leadership that is trying to run the taxation out of sight, to try to discourage low-income development.

Apparently we get funds thru the "Robin Hood" Act from Orange. Alot of their folks were commenting(i.e. complaining) on this when asked whether they would vote for a bond issue. We got it stuck to us when Port Arthur annexed the Entergy plant. BC took it to court and lost, but we have to provide fire and police services out there. But, I agree, Bridge City has fine teachers, and they deserve a raise. eek! eek!

Just a few of my favorites..
Class 5A
Mansfield: my cousin plays for em
SA Roosevelt: my college rommie played on their state tittle team..
Cedar Hill: my high school g/f went there, lots of pretty girls there!

Class 4A
Denton Ryan: I'm a big James Battle fan..I am so happy he is goin to TCU!
Athens: I went to college there, to bad they are terrible!
Paris: my ex g/f went there...tons of nice people there..
FW Wyatt: lots of freinds in high school that went there..

Class 3A
Sinton: some great people from there!
Burnet: I have more respect for that town than words can express...
Forney: another group of great people!
Commerce: always a good team...
Kennedale: even though they beat us I always root for em...unless they are playing Everman of course..

Class 2A
Mart: I always liked those guys for some reason..
Maypearl: my aunt went to school there..
Malakoff: real close to Athens, lots of freinds there..
Italy: ya gotta love the Gladiators!

Class A
Itasca: how can you not like the Wampus Cats? Also there are more attractive women per capita there than just about anywhere I have ever been! I know it is hard to believe but it is true!
Celeste: I've always had a warm spot in my heart for the Blue Devils..
Frost: the Polar Bears...what an appropriate mascot!
Teneha: I saw Chavis McCollister play in high school and became an instant fan..

SINTON - They beat the snot out of us last year (Reg. III vs Reg. IV), and all but apologized for it because they are a class act, fans and players alike. Anyone who spends any time on here knows it. Their school is also VERY competetive in other sports - They're good at everything.

NEWTON - A smaller enrollment, economically challenged (not rich) SE Texas school with a GREAT coach, who somehow, someway, year in and year out, finds the talent, heart and desire to field a playoff contender. How Coach Barbay does it with the numbers he has amazes me, and I respect him and his players for it!

EVERMAN - Anybody who can repeat, and do it with a TEAM effort, deserves respect and admiration.

These are a few at the top of my list, no slights to anybody not mentioned (i.e. Gainesville)!
