It is true.....Sweeny gave up 4 runs in the 4th inning on 4 errors........Hornback for Sweeny pitched 7 innings in the loss giving up 3 hits, 15 k's and 1 earned run....Langley was winning pitcher and threw the complete game. Congrats to Sealy.

Wow, that stings Area Code. Kid pitched great & took a tough loss. That pitching line looks eerily familiar from years back! Gotta regroup & get back on track. Hopefully just a blip on radar. Best of luck.

Huh? I would say a team undefeated at the time in district (7-0) playing that sloppy would be a surprise. Sure, baseball is unpredictable but that came out of nowhere. The game will always humble you, so you better respect it.

My bet is Sweeny regroups & stays in the hunt for a district title.

What was your meaning by that?

Columbus over West Columbia 8 - 7. It's no surprise to see Sealy's Jordan Langley upset a good team. He is a good pitcher.

My thoughts on the matter is that Hornbeck(sp.) is the best pitcher in the district and the only reason Sweeny lost was because of defensive errors behind him. Sweeny is the best team; I think that is evident from the spanking they gave Needville. Had it not been for those errors, they would be (8-0) right now.

They will regroup and win the district outright.

Anyone know when Needville and Royal will play their make up game from Friday?

Needville plays Royal tomorrow in Royal at 4:30. As for the Needville - Sweeny game. I believe Needville too lost because of errors and the pitcher had a bad outing ....... so errors can kill the best of teams on any given day. There are several good pitchers in this district. Good luck to all the rest of the way, should be fun!!

Sweeny hit him hard the 1st time in district & won handily. Errors obviously were the difference this game, but that's baseball. Congrats to Langley & Sealy for winning.

Riley Hornback (senior) is the pitcher mentioned for Sweeny. He has signed with San Jac & will probably play OF. His brother, Ryan, is also a solid player who plays C/IF/P, just a junior. Their father was a fine player years ago in Angleton & Blinn JC. Aaron Rollins (junior) is Sweeny's #2 on the mound. They have some pitching depth this year.

Best of luck to all.

No disrespect intended towards Hornbeck at all. He is the real deal when it comes to pitchers. His brother is a great catcher and both have above average sticks. Jordan Langley is a great pitcher who is not talked about enough, and surely is the key to the Sealy team.
