We didn't even know it was anything to get caught about. :D

When I was in elementary school we got to use the good rubber cement too.

Then there was that wonderful smelling leaded gasoline!

Now that I read the article, all I can say is HOW STUPID!!!

I used to love the way "Marks-a-lot" smelled....never thought about getting high off it, I just thought it smelled good!!

But what in the heck are they letting 3rd graders use markers for, if they pose a "serious safety issue!!"

Stupid dipwads!!

Benny, I just rechecked the title of this thread and I don't think markers are the answer.

I don't think they should let young kids use markers or glue period. It starts there and next thing you know they are all hopped up on dope and listening to that loud rock music.:D :D

I agree, I shouldn't have either.:( It is a huge problem. I didn't know until I wen't to Lowe's to buy some duct tape (to reattach one of my wife's heels of her church shoes) that you have to be 18 to buy duct tape. Kids have figured out how to roll it out and do something to it that gets the glue off of the tape and then they sniff or snort or huff or whatever, the glue. It's crazy.

i never huffed any of these, so unfortunately, i have no excuse.

but i do remember putting glue all over the top of my hands, letting it dry, and then peeling it off.

I HAD TO TAKE AN OSHA CLASS A NUMBER OF YEARS AGO. APPARENTLY USING WHITE-OUT AS FINGERNAIL POLISH AND EATING SORTKWIK BOTH PRESENTED PROBLEMS IN THE WORKPLACE, ALONG WITH SNIFFING THE MARKERS.

Yeah. I remember doing that, too. All the kids in our neighborhood did it. I wished they still sprayed where I live......mosquitoes are really bad. Besides, it sure would look funny.......an old guy like me chasing a mosquito spraying truck.:D
