Could it be that the monitor is just to small? I have a 17 in. monitor myself, and I do get the scroll bar. Just wondering.

I see your picture just fine, but there are plenty of people who can’t, at least not conveniently.

The picture will display just fine at 1024 x 768 or higher screen area, but quite a few people are limited to 800 x 600, and a relative few are limited to 640 x 480. For many, the limitation is the monitor. For most people with a 15” CRT, the best viewing size is 800 x 600. At 1024 x 768, text is too small for them to easily read. Even if the person could view 1024 x 768 on a 15” monitor, some older video cards can’t be set for more than 800 x 600. Then there are people with larger monitors, but poor eyesight. For some of them, the best viewing on a 17” monitor is at 800 x 600. In order to view 1024 x 768, they’d need a 19” monitor.

By the way, a laptop or flat screen display is not the same as a CRT. Its effective viewing area is nearly that of the next larger CRT. (15” flat screen is comparable to 17” CRT, etc.)

Another consideration is that some people have slow internet connections and pictures take a lot more time to load than text does. My opinion is that pictures on forums such as this should be kept fairly small, as a courtesy to others.

I agree!! I can set mine to view the larger pictures better, but I am a creature of habit and I just simply don't like everything being smaller.

I set it last night, but after I went to bed, my kids put it back like it was. I KNEW they weren't going to go for it.

Plus...I also have dial-up and it does take some time to load the larger ones. Sometimes I will skip a thread altogether if it seems to be taking a while. I usually have a problem with it in the evening - when internet traffic is at it's peak!

The size of the pic is fine with me....I just can't stand the Hardline. They bicker back and forth like an old married couple. :D
