One thing thats evolved since I first posted about it is that the coach has added an explanation for coordinating with officials on the use of the offense. It still sounds like they're avoiding the number eligibility issue though by constantly working out of a scrimmage kick formation.

Highland Park has aleady lined up in the same formation before. They used it on us. They just walk their tackles out.

So they just use it as a spread formation with big splits between G and T? Do they implement the 2 QB system in the backfield?

That formation right there on their homepage is illegal. There isnt enough on the LOS

There are 9 on the LOS there KA. They are all helmet at the hip of center deep. It just looks like they are back too far in the diagram.

doesn't that mean that only the outside two and the qb's are eligible?

if they are all on the LOS (the 9) then the end men and the two in the backfield would be eligible i thought....maybe im missing something

You can have five elgible in standard formations, right? In the old straight T formation, it was all three backs and both tight ends seems like.

in the pic above...if all 9 are on the LOS, then the following would be eligible receivers....

X, Z, 1, 2

The ends, both qb's and, the point of this offense, any other 2 guys you want to back off the line, are all eligible. You get to pick which other 2 back off to be eligible.

I think this pic from the original thread shows the formation a bit better?

im still confused...in order to line up in something like this and make it legal you have to consider it a scrimmage kick formation right? If that is the case, don't you have to either have a person back as a punter or a person on a knee as a FG/PAT holder? If it's not a scrimmage kick formation, then you still have to have your five players on the LOS from tackle to tackle in numbers 50-79 right?

Actually the scrimmage kick formation is anytime you have a player 7 yards behind LOS and no one under center. In this formation eligible number rules are excluded and you can not hit the center.

Theoretically, you could line up everyone but the center and the punter/qb 1 yard off the ball and shift any 7 to the line before the snap. All uncovered players are eligible as long as their number is correct (assume only skill numbers on the field). Would make for some interesting mismatches. You could even send everyone on a pattern as long as you threw to someone behind the LOS. Everyone would have to play man out of confusion.
