why is there such a want for tanned skin?

i personally try and stay out of the sun so that i can avoid wrinkles in the future.

but so many girls want tans that they go to the extreme of using tanning beds.

i have met some guys who love the "pasty" look....and others love dark skin.

in fact, i get made fun of for how white i am. but i don't care. i will thank myself later in life when i have less wrinkles than people younger than me.
