 In what way is "Paris and I" being used? Actually, in most cases, that would be correct grammar.

If the word can't stand alone, you don't use it! We have been over this before.

You wouldn't say, "this is I"...you would say, "this is me"....so, it's Paris and Me.

Here is the old tread.....Read it and learn from it (http://bbs.3adownlow.com/vb/showthread.php?threadid=64371&highlight=grammar)

so it says "This is Paris and I"?

The reason you say "This is me," is because me is the predicate nominative in that sentence and therefore you use me instead of I.

If the sentence uses "Paris and I" as the subject, then that would be correct.

I don't want to confuse the young ones out there.

Grammar is very important!

Grammar is very important!

"When it doubt, leave "the friend" out!"

You would have a picture and underneath it, it would just say "I?"

It should say "me!"

We obviously learned grammar in two different ways.

I think we're talking about the same thing, and i think we're in agreement.

...since I can't see the pictures, I can't tell what the phrases under them say. But even according to the link, "so and so and I" is not improper grammar, but it's polite. "So and so and me" isn't improper if it's left alone either. That's just a matter of preference if that's all that the caption says.

It all depends on the context of whether and where it's used in the sentence, just as that link explains.

You are both correct. The "dude" says "Paris and I" under the picture, which should be "Paris and me". If "Paris and I are at the party" was the caption, then it grammatically would be correct. (I understood you both. :nerd: )

Well yeah...here is the "polite" thing he is talking about:

Incidentally, saying 'my friend and I' instead of 'I and my friend' is not better grammar, it's just being polite.

Now...if you just have "My friend and I" underneath a captioned photo...that would be wrong. It should be "my friend and me"....WHICH is what I was talking about.

If you were using it in a sentence....."My friend and I are going to a football game," then that is correct, because the "I" can stand alone. "I am going to a football game."

BUT....I never said it was ALWAYS wrong, I just got a kick out of looking at the pictures...especially the one of where he was with Paris and then reading the caption..."Paris and I" and thinking how ignorant he sounds!!:D
