I am one of the most vocal Aggie football haters, but who would really think they would change their helmets?

When was the last time they changed it?

It might be interesting to see the changes the A&M helment has gone through over the years.

If that really was a new A&M helmet, I have to say A&M is suffering from a bit of Texas Tech envy. :eek: :eek: :eek:

i just talked to my uncle and he said the last three years they have tried to make that as their helmet so i dont think there is anything to worry about

My son works in the athletic dept...(grounds crew) told me that there is move to change the logo...in most sports...but most people he talks to say that football probably won't change.

Honestly guys, I have heard nothing of a new helmet at all. It may be a big suprise, but since it's been leaked I have doubts about it being hidden from us. Everyone talks in the locker room and nobody has yet to say anything about it, or at least as far as I know. I was pretty much in the zone today studying, but the helmets in our lockers are the same ones that we wore last year; same logo, same design. I don't see us changing anything, but I've been wrong before. Personally, I like the idea of having a black helmet, but I don't think the alumni would like it too much.

Yessir, first day out; helmets only. Should be fun to get out and get back into the football atmosphere. I'm definitely looking forward to Friday, that's when we put the pads on. :D

that looks like something more that Texas State would do rather than A&M especially since Texas State is trying to go D1...i dont think that would represent A&M very well they need to leave it like it is

your right but there is big push by some athletic higher ups to make the logo...more than ATM........heard that the baseball team had the picture of ol sarge painted on the outfield walls at olsen for the series opener and the day before they were told paint over it.

There are several Aggies on TexAgs that like to poke fun at Tech's sparkling helmets. There are also several Aggies that do not like the use of the T-Star, so someone decided to combine the two as a joke. The only changes I could see being made to our helmets are returning to white or using the T-Star. The T-Star logo is an adaptation of the university seal that was brought about when Byrne got to A&M. It's a secondary logo that would have been a lot better if SWT hadn't have changed to Texas State and incorporated a similar star logo. The block ATM has been in use since the 50s and I would guess we'll stick with that.

I've always kind of liked the AM ligature which is an adaptation of the original AMC logo. About the only place you see it used is on the neck of the basketball jerseys.

ATM is here to stay.
T-Star is secondary logo for marketing purposes on some apparel & gear. Jeff Schmahl, who came from NEB with Byrne, is behind most of this stuff.

I also like the interlocking A M logo, but rarely used.

Football helmets will be the same. You may see other cosmetic changes, but not on the helmets from what I understand. Sherman is smarter than that (alumni, etc.). Aggies value tradition & usually resist change anyway.
