How many teams have won state in 7 vs 7 then went on to win state in REAL FB?

Ok, so 2 in the past 10 years....very nice.

I heard that Some teams bought state champ 7 vs 7 rings....is that true?

WOW....not that I am not a fan of 7v7. I think it has its place.

But touch football is nothing like playing with pads on!

Actually Celina has done it twice....and Tyler Lee once....so it's been 3 times...

We did a study two years ago on 7 on 7 and we found that there is a correlation between 7 on 7 success and how it translates into the next fall...so there is a relationship to how things go...typically teams who do well in the summer do well in the fall...

And no 7 on 7 is not like football with the pads on but it's a nice thing to watch in the summer....

There's already enough heat related deaths. They don't need to be out there in full pads in 100 degree heat playing ball.;)

lol good one.
No I like the fact that it does get kids out in the heat, playing fb. somethig that us older people did on our own back in the day...

More and more teams are getting involved in it every year.

I'm good with driving to Leander once a week for a few weeks. ;)

Southlake Carroll made it to the semi's in 98, losing to Stephenville 31-28. They won the 7 on 7 title the same year.

I know that Robinson has a record of somewhere like 55-10 over the past 3 seasons in 7 on 7. However our Head coach does not want us playing in state qualifying tournaments so that the boys can play a little summer baseball or basketball or track. Also they need to spend time goofing off in the summer with friends, being kids. Our boys play in a local league at Midway H.S., plenty of games played in 4 weeks. Be careful, more is not always better.

we have a really good 7 on 7 program if you can call it that. We were one of the few 3a teams to go to the state tournament before the small school division, and one of the years we beat eventual runner up Rockwall in pool play (but unfortunately lost to Alamo Heights in the first round of playoffs, a team we had already handled earlier in the year...) All of our players get excited about 7 on 7, its alot of fun, and it helps the timing and trust in the quarterback-receiver relationships. Sure, no pads, but it does help with the passing game later on, especially if the team will run similar plays to what is in their real playbook, something we have always done.
