Lake Mexia has become a crappie hot spot for me. Also pull out some pretty good bass and catfish. Whitney is good for stripers.

BUFFALO LAKE outside of LUBBOCK.

Cant beat it you got hot girls, ugly girls, bandidos, drunks, alot of BBQ, and people skiing in space no bigger than a swimming pool. If you are ever feeling down about yourself just go out to this lake and look around.

Texas has lots of good lakes, but Lake Amistad in my opinion is the best. If you ever go there, go up Rough Canyon. I don't know how tall the rock bluffs are, but it's a site to see.

As far as catching really big bass, Lake Amistad and Lake Fork are the best (IMO).

Caddo Lake in Uncertain, Texas. Close to my hometown (big M-Town).

Best catfish in the state of Texas caught there.

Not to mention its the only natural lake in the state of Texas.

For pure recreation PK is by far the best I have been to. Amisted, Inks, Proctor, and Caddo are great fishing lakes. I've always liked Brownwood Lake also, but it's been several years since I have been on it. The most fun I have ever had on a lake was fishing for sand bass on Lake Lewisville. They start schooling and boiling the water in the evening at the NE corner and steadily move SW for a couple hours. We would rig up 2 or 3 trebble hooks on spoons about 2 feet apart and would cast and reel just as fast as we could as we would follow the school. You would nearly always catch at least one, but would often catch 2 or 3 at a time, and would occasionally snag one on the back or side. Most were pretty small, but about 1 out of every 10 would be a nice eater with a good fillet on each side. MMMMMMM Good Eats!

Its beautiful. I highly recommend a fishing trip there. Or any trip there for that matter. And then there is the infamous Big Pines Lodge there with the all you can eat catfish plate, and jalapeno hushpuppies.

Unfortunately, the original owners sold it about 10 years ago and its never been quite as good....but its still the best catfish restaurant in the world.

And its also where they do a lot of filming for TV & movies.
