He has had a great career. I remember one of his first roles as the domed young boyfriend in Atlantic City with Burt Lancaster. Cruise was great in that role and established himself as a star. Then he was in The Color of Money with Paul Newman and his career was on the way.

U sure about Atlantic City? His first role was in 1981 in "Endless Love"

Atlantic City was one of his first roles. Maybe not the first. He was great as the young doomed boyfriend. Devastating performance indeed!
