The Houston Rockets defeated the Charlotte Bobcats 89-80 and now own the 2nd longest winning streak in NBA history. With the win, Houston passes the 1971 Milwaukee Bucks and now only trail the 1971-72 Los Angeles Lakers. Tracy McGrady led the Rockets with 30 pts, 7 rebounds and 4 assists. Starters Rafer Alston 17 pts, Scola 13 pts & 6 boards, Battier 12 pts & 9 boards and Mutombo 7 boards & 4 block shots all had a hand in this team victory. The big surprise was former Rice star Mike Harris, who had just recently been signed a 10 day contract. Harris came up with 12 big points, with 10 of them in the 4th quarter. He also had 4 rebounds and 3 of them were on the offensive glass. Houston is now tied with the Lakers for the #1 seed in the Western Conference.

scola's steal and layup and free throw was the turning point in this game- IMO. huge at the time. and that battier- mr. hustle. those two do the little things that win games...

The Rockets have won 30 of their last 33 games. In each of those 3 losses, the Rockets held a 4th qtr lead. They lost by 4 to Philly after having a 16 point lead. The other 2 losses were against New Orleans & Utah. T-Mac was injured and didn't play in those first 2 games and Yao Ming was out against the Jazz. With a little luck, we could be talking about the Rockets trying to win their 34th straight game against the franchise that holds the record.

Rockets might catch another break as Laker's Pau Gasol sprained an ankle against New Orleans and had to leave the game. The way Phil Jackson sounded, he may have to miss a few games.
