From NewsOK.com (Justin Harper):

Perhaps the greatest ending to a game in state tournament history featured two would-be game-winning shots in the last second and a 35-foot title-winning shot that will etch Callie Slate's name in Big House history.

Here's a look at how the final moments played out:

•0:27 remaining: Pocola takes its first lead since the 3:55 mark of the fourth quarter and completes a 6-0 run as a Callie Slate bucket makes the score 54-52.

•0:15: A Walters miss gives Pocola the ball with the lead. The first sign of tears appear on the Walters sideline.

•0:09.2: In a wild sequence, Walters' Cassadie Holybee makes a crucial steal, intercepting a pass to give Walters a chance. However, the freshman immediately has a pass stolen by Pocola. On the catch, standing right on the halfcourt line, the Pocola player starts to dribble when the official stops play. A carry is called on Pocola. The result is a combined three turnovers by the two teams in a matter of seconds and Walters has life — one more chance with the basketball.

•0:00.7: Walters' Vanessa Karpe hits a 21-foot 3-pointer and is fouled, giving Walters a 55-54 lead and presumably the state championship. 3 points

Walters players and coaches explode onto the court, mobbing Karpe.

In an incredibly misfortunate happening, the foul that was called when Karpe swished the 3-pointer resulted in the clock stopping with seven-tenths of a second remaining. Since time remained and Walters players were on the court, a technical foul was called.

After Karpe's free throw, the score was 56-54. Pocola would then step to the line and hit one of two free throws to make it 56-55. But Pocola would get the ball back with one final chance. 5 points

Callie Slate would take the inbounds pass and hurl a 35 foot laser giving Pocola the Oklahoma 2A State Championship. 8 points

Fantastic! Both teams fought to the end! With those two type of teams in a game like that it had to end that way. Good job by both teams.

That's twice this season that players and coaches running on the court have cost their teams games that I know of, a college game, and now this one.

thats a pretty chicken poop call to call a tech right then...its high school kids and they thought they just won the state title...it wasnt like they ran onto the court when they thought the game was still going, they thought the game was over and they won on a miracle 3....

also, call carrying with 9 seconds left after an apparant "wild sequence" come on...waht is going on w/ the officials, once again its a high school state championship game (of course i wasnt there so if it was blatant thats one thing, but from the other call i have a feeling it wasnt something she blatantly did)....

Teams need to watch the clock even on a last second shot. I remember in women's college basketball a few years ago UT almost blew a game against Tennessee in Austin. The game was tied and UT made a last second basket to go ahead by three but after the basket there was about 0.2 of a second left. The UT players ran off the bench in celebration and got a technical. Tennessee made both free throws to put them behind at one point and got the ball at the UT end of the court. They threw the ball in and it was immediatly thrown to the basket but fortunately it missed. Be careful out there.

That's kinda cheap calling a technical. They didn't call a technical on UCLA on Saturday and it took about three minutes or so to clear the court.

UCLA not receiving a technical does not mean one should not have been called in this instance.

I dont like calling the tech there i know its the rule but the ref is also supposed to let the teams decide the game and he had an effect on the out come by calling that T

Doesn't a ref have an effect on the outcome by calling any foul?
