I know there are a few people on here that go gamble every once in a while and I was wondering where you suggest going and what would be closest to San Angelo?

Me and the old lady want to have a crazy weekend and drive somewhere Friday night gamble til we drop and drive back

Run up to Oklahoma just across from Burkburnett. I forget the name of the place, but I have friends that go up there pretty regular and they say the payback is better than most places, and it's probably the closest place to go from here.
Although, you can actually be in Ruidoso NM in about 6 1/2 hours if you dont stop, and theres several good places up there. I love Inn of the Mountain Gods!

Yeah I was thinking either Ruidoso or Shreveport. I've never gambled at Inn of the Mountain Gods but I have played golf and it was pretty awesome.

Did they finally get some good snow up there? When I was there right before Christmas most of the slopes were closed because of lack of snowfall. We just gambled, ate, and drank. Good times!

Yeah I checked the slopes and all are open but one. My brothers girlfriend went down there last weekend and it was just fine...

I like Shreveport pretty good, but thats about an 8 to 9 hour drive so I dont do it very often unless I'm going to stay for a few days. And I have always enjoyed the drive to Ruidoso much better than to Shreveport. And I just really like being at Ruidoso much more just in general, whether I'm gambling or not. Just love the area!

Go to Ruidoso, but don't play at the Inn. We always have awful luck at that place. I lost near $300 last weekend in just around an hour at the tables. The Inn also operates a Travel Center in Ruidoso, and it has much better payback. The minimum bets on the tables are more reasonable as well.

I try to stay away from Oklahoma because of their commission charge on Blackjack.

TexasFootball2 has a crap game in the storage building behind his doublewide every Friday night. It's not glamorous or anything but you can usually win a lot of money. Depending on your footspeed and/or size, you may or may not can make it all the way to your car with your winnings, but that is part of the fun. Call him at the DQ in Merkel. Just ask for the Asst. Mgr. that's in charge of the dipped cones.:D :D

just go out to vegas for a day - fly out friday nite and come back sunday morning
with gas as high as it is, there's probably not much of a price difference...

New Mexico is your best bet. The indian casinos are an absolute ripoff because of their commission charges. The hell I'm ever going to pay $.50 a hand on BJ. That makes it virtually impossible for me to win even if I'm on a good run. I'm not going to play the $$ I would otherwise up there because they dont really offer any comps. Also...no booze at Indian casinos! :(

Then again...if you're going to drive to New Mexico...just fly to Vegas baby! They're offering really good rates for March Madness next weekend. Heck I can even get 2 nights comped at some of the Harrah's properties and I very rarely get weekend comps! :)

Shreveport to San Angelo is going to take you at least 9-10 hours. Might as well get a flight to Vegas. Will cost you less and you'll have more options.
