ALVIN — One man is dead and four people are injured after sheriff’s officials said a maintenance man who apparently had been in a fight with several men intentionally plowed his truck into a group of people outside a trailer home.

ozvilla, 45, was pronounced dead at the scene in the 3900 block of CR 48, Saturday night by Pct. 4 Place 1 Judge Sharon Fox, said Sheriff’s Office Investigator Jerome Griffin.

A 5-year-old who fractured her arm and one of the injured men were taken by LifeFlight helicopter to Memorial Hermann Hospital in Houston, and another man was taken there by ambulance, he said.

A man also was taken by ambulance to Alvin Medical Center with a broken knee, Griffin said.

Salvador Rodriguez, 58, still was under investigative hold at the Brazoria County jail Sunday, but sheriff’s officials had a warrant charging him with

murder. The 24-hour investigative hold had not expired late Sunday, but when it did, Rodriguez was expected to be arraigned on the murder charge, Griffin said.

Toxicology tests are pending.

Deputies said trouble started at about 9:30 p.m. Saturday after an altercation between some men and Rodriguez, who is a Rosharon resident.

According to police reports, Rodriguez said he got off work at the trailer park, where he does maintenance, and went to the store to buy beer.

The report said he took the beer to a friend’s home at the park and drank until after dark, before getting in his 1983 gray and black Ford pickup to leave. As he pulled away from the trailer, he said four or five men began to yell for him to come over.

Griffin said Rodriguez thought the men were going to tell him about a repair they needed done, but instead he told deputies they began yelling and cursing at him before they took him out of his truck and beat him.

Rodriguez appeared to have been in a fight, Griffin said.

When he was able to get back in his truck he turned around in a grassy area at the trailer park and picked up speed before he cut between two vehicles and ran into the group standing outside, Griffin said.

“The guys were standing there and he said he saw them, and they assaulted him, and he was going to get back at them for what they did to him,” Griffin said. “And he drove his vehicle right up in the middle of all the guys.”

Rodriguez then went back to his friend’s trailer and told them to call the police because he had just hit someone, Griffin said.

“Rodriguez turned himself in at the scene,” Griffin said. “He told law enforcement he was the driver and he was the one who struck the people.”

Though no other charges had been filed late Sunday, Griffin said as many as four charges could be pending.

“If one intended to run someone over with a motor vehicle as a result of an earlier incident, the facts would justify intentionally or knowingly causing the death, or intending to cause serious bodily injury and committing an act clearly dangerous to human life,” District Attorney Jeri Yenne said.

Based on the facts presented in this case, the allegation would fit the murder charge, she said.

If convicted of murder, Rodriguez would face up to 99 years in prison.

Well, that proves it. BM has no commom sense. 100 people could read the post he is referring to and realize it was sarcastic, but evidently it went right over BMs head. Either that, or he is hijacking the thread to get into gun control debate. :thinking: :thinking:

I guess you're right. I know I can kill 20 people with 20 bullets with my 7Mag, but with an AK47, there's no way you'll get 20 kills with 20 bullets. Some of them will get hit by 2 or 3 rounds each. So with a bolt-action deer rifle you'll get much more efficiency.

You are right BM. Of course, the military is smart enough to train specialists called "SNIPERS" and I don't think their weapon of choice is the M16. I think it was once a modified version of my 700.

no,Humvees are too high off the ground and people could duck or lie down and you would miss... pick ups are much better... plus they do not cost near the money...

When I was 10 I shot my grandad's bull in the nads with my Benjamin Pump air rifle. (Only pumped it twice). It did a lot of damage, in that the bull tore up the corral and chute and lots of other things. My grandad asked me why I did it. Told him the truth------ Saw them hanging there and just decided to see what would happen. So... anyway.... have a good day.:) :)
