Stafford lost to 2A Danbury 5-3 in Danbury Tournament on Saturday.

Spartans baseball program is not the caliber of other 24-3A teams-

Put Royal also like Stafford

haven't seen them play. I think they are 3-3, one loss is to Bellville

we are 3-6...went 2-1 in the Jersey Village Tourny...went last against Aldine Nimitz we won 9-0 with our pitcher throwing a no hitter through the 5 innings needed for the 8 run rule...earlier A.N. killed us in a scrimmage so the win was sweet...i think we are starting to click...

How do yall think the district will finish up this year?
Here is my prediction:

1Needville
2Columbus
3Sweeny
4Sealy
5Wharton
6Columbia
7Stafford
8 Brookshire

The Bluejays have been having batting practice against the teams they have played the past 3 weeks. The only team that played them close was El Campo. If the pitching stays sharp, the bats keep talking, the defense stays strong and they all stay healthy they should finish first in district.

Columbus and Sweeny will battle for second and third, but don't count Wharton out. They are always tough in district play!!

I can't see Sealy finishing 4th

Id say
Needville and Sweeny fighting for first

Columbus and Wharton for third

not saying that the other teams in the district have easy schedules, but we've played 5A's and 4A's all pre-district..we've play Bellville and lost and also 2A Boling and lost, but only because we shot ourselves in the foot...i'm hoping us playing against tougher competition will help us out come district...

Wharton has played a very tough schedule, they will be ok once district starts.

It all comes down to mental toughness-play good defense and pitchers throwiung strikes

Putting the ball in play and make your opponets make the play

You hit it on the money. This team has beat themselves with errors and lack of hitting.I don't think they will see the pitching they have faced so far in district play.It all come down to how bad these kids want to win, thats what i have seen so far,the talent is there just got to put it together.

Go Blue Jays....it's yours to lose...but let's not go that route!

Blue Jays to state in '08!

Wharton will fix whatever is ailing them and will play Needville tough in District. They always do.

There will be some great pitching duels in this District this year!

Yes, and Needville beat 5A Morton Ranch 12-0 and 5A Willowridge 12-3 this weekend.

Needville has been pounding the ball and yes they beat those teams, but none of that matters when district play begins. You have to play every game and not let up. Pitching, hitting and defense has to all be there to beat the teams in this district.

I agree. I was just pointing out that Wharton's schedule wasn't better than Needville's. Losing to Boling and Bellville isn't what I'd call a meat-grinder pre-district schedule.

I know what you mean about the schedules. The Blue jays toughest challenge came from El Campo. Our first baseman made a terrific double play to end the game. If he doesn't make I think it might have been a different outcome to the game.

Hope the rain doesn't keep anyone from starting up tomorrow..!!

Stafford comes down to Wharton..hopefully if the rain holds up, we'll fix the field enough to play on tomorrow night...and just a correction i messed up on, we're 4-6 not 3-6 i forgot a game we won

Hilarious.

You have every right to your opinion and no, we didn't win district but the fact remains, Needville football being the doormat of the district is a distant past now. We've been to the playoffs 2 of the last 3 years and missed the playoffs in 06 because of a great last second play by Wharton to tie (and ultimately win in OT).

Our overall record (9th, JV, and Varsity) over the last 3 years is 75-14-3.

I'd say that's pretty stout. These kids work their tails off and have turned this entire program into a competitive one.

Wet ground from Monday's rain

Royal at Needville also on Wednesday

Sweeny also plays on Wednesday against Columbia I think

Columbus game was still undecided

The rubber boots was in reference to the soggy fields after the rain.
