View Full Version : We need a bigger thingy so we don't have to clean ours so often.

I know this should probably go in the suggestions thread. I just
figure there would be more input here.

My mailbox stays about 80% full of recent pm's and I'm not even
"famous":D .

I do like to keep some simply for reference. I delete most of what
I send and keep what I've recieved.

I have to go through and delete pm's about every two days so
that I'm able to receive new ones.

For those of us that are computer illiterate...what would go into
getting an increase in the size of the mail boxes?

Also, what would it take to talk the owners into doing this?

If enough people think this would be a good idea, we might be
able to convince them it would be worth it.

Any thoughts?

Trust me, we've asked. It's a set number with the software and isn't changeable.

Well, my problem really isn't the size. It's all the action it's getting. I
just need more room to accomodate it all.

Just clean the thingy out every now and then when you're bored and it shouldn't be a problem.

If you had bigger pm boxes, we wouldn't have as much memory space for all your brilliant posts.:D

Donations from members may help some...

There is a setting in the admin cp that can change the number allowed to be stored (currently set to 50). But, like I said it needs to be limited so that all the members can use that even if you double, triple or quadruple the membership some day. Admin has to allow for the future growth of the site. The server has a finite amount of data storage, and we'd rather use that for threads and posts than pms.

If you really WANT to store all your messages forever and ever, what I would suggest is you copy and paste each one into a word document to store on your hard drive. That way you can keep your pm box cleaned out and keep all your old messages too.

I was saving mine on word for a while, until it never seemed to to fail that the PM I was looking for was inevitably on the computer I WASNT on at the time....work or home!

You can fix that by attaching it to an email to yourself.;)

Not having a big enough thingy is quite a problem.

Lmao.

The terminology in this thread is hilarious.

I thought about that, but I get enough crap in my email as it is, without sending stuff to myself on top of it!

I usually just save it till it's of no consequence anymore.

Unless you can get Administrator to agree with you, it's a no. (BTW, He's said no before)
