Other than Chris's stats, the list should be complete. If you know of a TE that belongs in any of those top 10 lists (receptions, yards, TDs), please let me know. There are a lot of 3A teams in Texas, so I could have easily overlooked someone that deserves to be in the Top 10. Pleas provide a source for stats if I have missed anyone.

3AFan, did I miss somone? I did not intend for the list to only include North Texas players. I don't even know where Needville is, but the stats for Brett Sweeny are from the Houston Chronicle. I'm having a hard time getting stats from East Texas (Chris Miller-Longview Spring Hill).

i dont know - i just looked at the teams & all are in the DFW area except Needville (just W of Houston) & Spring Hill (far E Tex) .... there's a whole lot more of Texas

The San Antonio area's (25, 26, 27, and 29-3A)best TEs:

Garrison Smith (Bandera) 6-82-0
Ben Miller (Llano) 3-56-0
Dakota Williams (Cuero) 3-53-1
Will Calame (Devine) 3-43-1

Not much of a showing for that area, compared to the stats of the Top 10 listed in above post.

You can check with the Corpus Christi Caller-times paper for stats but the tightend at Sinton by the name of Lamb has been a key player in their offense and the tightend at Orange Grove - Chad DeLaune is around 16-250yds-3tds and has been out the last two games with injury.

CatsDen

I did check with the caller.com (thank you for the site) and they have Chad Delaune listed with 15 receptions, 242 yards, and 3 TDs. That moves him into the Top 10 List. Ben Lamb (Sinton) is listed with 6 receptions, 83 yards, and 1 TD. I appreciate your help. Can you identify the tight ends for all of the teams in 30 and 31-3A?

Those stats for Kaylon put him right in the thick of everything! Thanks for the replies. Please let me know if you can provide a source for stats and positions.

I did receive a reply from Gary with the stats for Diboll's Garcia and Finley. Garcia must be a monster! 33 receptions, 493 yards, and 4 TDs. And what happened in week 4: 10 catches for 139 yards?! Diboll definitely shows their TE a lot of love! That easily puts Jamie at the top in receptions and yards. Bostice caught another TD last night, which puts him at the top in TDs (for now). I still haven't received confirmation for Broderick Bean from Kirbyville (20-3A)17-489-4. The only position listing I can find for him is FS. As of right now, there are representatives on the list from Districts: 8, 9, 10, 13, 14, 15, 20, 22, 28, and 31. The San Antonio area does'nt have any TEs even close to breaking into the TOP 10 in any of the categories. tigersVille04, if you can offer any help - I would appreciate it. Does your area have any tight ends worthy of Top 10 consideration? I could have easily missed more.

CatsDen

Here's what I got on Garcia and Finley:

Both are listed as tight ends, but Finley occasionally moves out wide and
Garcia moves into the slot. Finley is a 6'5" All-State nominee in basketball
(he's got about a 40-inch vertical leap), and a lot of his catches come on
"jump balls" (they actually practice those) where his quarterback throws it
where only he can reach it. Garcia is a kid who just finds his way open, and
he doesn't drop passes. Diboll's quarterback doesn't throw a real good deep
ball, so most of the patterns are medium routes and hot passes across the
middle.

The formations vary, from a stacked "I" (they've got two good running backs)
to a spread formation with four receivers.

Just to let you know, Finley made Dave Campbell's Top 100 Sophomores list
last season and is being recruited heavily by UT and several other Division
I schools, both for football and basketball. Garcia sort of came out of
nowhere to become the team's most reliable receiver. Like I said, he knows
how to get open and he catches everything thrown at him.

Yeah, Garcia has turned out to be our silent killer this season. Not anymore, I think we gave him too much publicity lol. As for Finley, what can you say, he's an all-around athlete.

Thank you FatCat. I haven't received a response yet from the news-journal writer. That moves Chris up on the receptions list into a tie for 3rd place (no impact to yardage or TD rank). I will wait to update the list until Monday. After hearing from Gary, I wonder how many other "TEs" actually play the slot WR or are playing from spread formations? Being listed as a tight end and playing slot receiver are two different things entirely. It might be intersting to compare the pass attempts for the teams represented in the top 10 lists.
