A new wood bat collegiate baseball league will begin play this summer with a 52 game schedule. It's intention is to keep some of the local Lone Star talent to stay in Texas instead of playing in the Cape Cod, and Alaskan leagues.
The league will be based in the D/FW area and teams will be from McKinney, Highland Park, Waxahachie, Weatherford, Mineral Wells, and Graham. All of these towns were selected based on their top ranking baseball facilities as well as interest from the towns to support such a program.
Drafting players has taken place and the list for all teams includes mostly freshman and soph. players. Players come from Rice, Texas A&M, North Carolina St., Cal-St. Fullerton, New Mexico, Baylor, and other top D-1 programs.
It will be interesting to see how this program turns out, I hope it will be a hit!
