First of all I'm not bragging about Burnet. But I do talk about them since that's where I'm from. I stated in an earlier post that if Burnet was 4A they would be rated #2 in the State, and tied for 6th in 5a based on Collier-sharps projections. A hand full of you laughed and had negative things to say. Which is fine. So I decided to Email this question to CS.
from: burnet_bulldogs@hotmail.com to To: colliersharp@hotmail.com
Question: Would a power rating of 180 on the 5A board be equal to a 180 on the 3A Board?

Reply: Yes that is correct, all teams in the state are judged by the same criteria, you guys just have a really great football team is all, if you bring your A game each week no one is going to beat you.
That is a direct response from Collier Sharp.
Never shoot the messenger.

I hope you didn't take my comments as bashing Burnet, I like 'em (unless Gonzales misses the playoffs and we go D1)...

I know their point systems are equal with all classes, I just never understood what different variables they put into the points system...

I think it would be very profitable for all the Burnet posters to band together and file a class action suit against your longtime family OBGYN doctor. After viewing many of your posts on 3AdownLow, it is becoming abundantly clear that many are showing symptoms of brain dysfunction which is symptomatic of being bounced on ones head at birth.Don't be a hater because I Posted a poll. See it for yourself. Collier-Sharp (http://collier-sharp.com/)

I'm not trying to say anything bad about Burnet. They are an excellent team! But to say that they could hang with teams like Lufkin and Longview is really overrating a team. I think what CS is talking about is that not what you think! If a 1A team has a rating of 180 and a 5A team has one of 120 does not mean the 1A team will win! Good luck to Burnet! I really hope that they don't lose a game and that they also win state!

Burnet is great and all but I find it hard to believe they will beat team like Texas High, La Marque, Denton Ryan. And I definitely don't think they should be ranked higher then teams like Katy, Converse Judson, Austin Westlake...etc. Burnet has obviously forgotten about Everman. Sure they have some losses already but I wouldn't count them out just yet.

So if that's unbelievable, Forney being #4 would be in question also. It's simple you either use CS for a reference or you dont. It was your brothers post that told me the new polls were up.

you can take the collier-sharp numbers (& emails) and interpret them however you like ... and most people will interpret them to their own best advantage or to however makes them look best or someone else look bad ------------- but these polls ARE doing what they are intended for, to spur conversation and to make people visit their sites................

Maybe we should let Burnet TRY and win a state championship in 3A, since we haven't won one yet, before we start claiming to be a threat in 4A & 5A. Burnet has a LONG, TOUGH road ahead this year. I wish everyone would quit acting like it is in the bag. GEEEZ!

There's no bending numbers it's simply taking a rating at face value. Man! How can a post get so skewed.

As a comparison, Burnet's 118.2 "power" rating from the DataPoll would make the Bulldogs the 5th rated team in 4A and the 16th best in 5A according to that particular method of calculation.

I think that's probably about right. And that's not saying that other 3A teams this year and in the past couldn't have also competed with the larger classifications and done quite well.

Last year's Everman team would have played anyone tough. Does anyone seriously doubt that the 1989(?) Paducah basketball team (1A) could have made a run at the 5A state tournament?

You can only put 11 on the field at any one time. Burnet would be a tough draw for any HS team on any level.

By the way, if you will notice Burnet is ranked 14th overall and the next 3a team is Bellville, ranked 93rd.
