Also, his Lakers played well with Kobe going off tonight.

Give them their props too.

I agree, the Suns would be a nice team for us all to get together and hate on

Where is JR? Hopefully nobody shot him. I do respect his basketball knowledge, just leave out the trash talking & hating of every other team but the "Flagship team" and we may have some good posts about the NBA.

Getting you to put up something like this makes it unnecessary to say a thing. The goal of trash-talking is to get you to put up something like this that gives me a good laugh. Congratulations on accomplishing that!

I had family stuff to take care of yesterday and there was really nothing to come post about on here anyhow even if I didn't.

I'll stick with the "Flagship team" stuff because, well, it's the truth. We were the original Flagship Franchise of the NBA in the late 40's and early 50's before the Leprechauns held that title for a quarter century. We've had that title of Flagship Franchise back now for almost 28 years and counting.

No I really don't. Teams that have contributed mightily to further running the NBA into the ground don't get that title and never will.

I know it sucks having just two titles in the history of your franchise. If I were a fan of the team down in Mosquitoville I'd send MJ a Christmas card every year for pursuing baseball and returning too late during the 2nd title run. Without that gift from MJ they'd be in the same position that Allas is in right now.

When I look at the record books, they don't say anything about Michael Jordan under Houston Rockets Championships. Nor does it mention MJ on the championship trophies.:p :p :p

From 1991-93, the Rockets owned MJ the Bulls defeating them 5 out of 6 games. MJ did return late in '95, but he was still MJ. He scored like 55 points in his first game and the rest probably did him some good. As a Rocket fan, I can't help it if he couldn't defeat Shaq and the Orlando Magic. The Rockets swept them 4-0 to win their second championship.

If the Lakers win this year, the Lakers can send Yao a Christmas card. Make sure and get one in chinese. :D

Everybody talks about MJ coming back late, being out of shape and not the same MJ. He shot 48% and averaged 31.5 a game in the playoffs that year....both of those were better than he would put up the next season.

If I remember correctly, there were still 29 other teams in the NBA when MJ was at baseball fantasy camp. They had just as much of an opportunity to win those years as the Rockets. It's not like anyone got those titles on a silver platter.

There were only 26 other teams in the NBA back then. :p

I want to know who the Bulls would use to guard Olajuwon? David Robinson, Ewing & Shaq couldn't stop him and the Bulls had nobody close to those players.

Actually the Lakers should send a Christmas card to Memphis for giving up PG for a happy meal.:D :D :D

It's going to be a Lakers/Celtics finals. Expect them both to set free throw records a long the way.

Stern is drooling over a "flagship franchise" championship matchup.

Dennis Rodman was probably the best low post defender of that era. He gave up a few inches to everyone, but it was either him or Luc Longley.

Impossible for Rodman because he was a member of the Spurs. He & Robinson couldn't stop the Dream in those Rocket championship years. Rodman joined the Bulls in the 95-96 season.

I bet you annoyed the heck out of your brother as a kid about the Lakers. :)

The day we finally pass those idiot Leprechauns for good in total titles will be an extremely happy day for Laker fans everywhere! Oh well it's still fun laughing at them because of having beat them the last two times we've seen them in the Finals. I still enjoy listening to Tommy Heinsohn (Former Celtic player and coach) broadcast the deciding game of the 85 Finals on CBS.

It just had to kill poor Tommy to have to say near the end of the game that the Lakers were the first team to ever clinch the title at Boston Garden. That was also the first Laker team to ever beat the Leprechauns in the Finals.

Everytime a fan of the Leprechauns brings it up I just always say "And none since 86!". As long as LA has a more recent title than them I don't care who else has won one since we last won the title.

The hate-o-meter goes Leprechauns...

Then a HUGE dropoff to Phoenix and the Queens.

Everyone else falls way below that on the hate-o-meter.

My bad. Thought you were talking about that era in general. Who would've guarded Olajuwon during the Bulls' first three-peat? Horace Grant would've been serviceable, but was too valuable on the offensive end. Was Cartwright their center back then?
