This is easily going to be the most entertaining team down in Austin this year. If you've never gotten to see Southwest play, you'll enjoy them down there if you go. I got to see them last year for the first time and can't wait to see them again. One of my buddies is going to finally play a style similar to them next season over here in Dallas and I can't wait to see that.

Whoa I thought this was going to be a great game but not this good was this no overtimes or anything? I remember a couple years ago they came back from 20 and beat someone by 3 in the playoffs. There is a chance I might be down there 4a could get really exciting.

Southwest is fun to watch and nuts to prepare for...they are the high school version of Loyola Marymont when they had Bo Kimble and Hank Gathers.....

my junior year at Everman we were 16-2 and played Southwest at home and they were decent like 12-6 something like that....and they were ON FIRE and beat us by 35 at home...

the next year they weren't hitting and we beat em by 50 at the Wilk...

When they are on, they are on...and damn near impossible to beat

Southwest averages 97.1 PPG. If they played 48 minute games like the NBA, they'd be averaging right at 145 points every single game. That's just ridiculous.

Matt is right though. They can shoot themselves into and out of a game. I saw them last year before our playoff game against Glen Rose. They were playing Mineral Wells and got out to a lead of 20 or so in the first half, but had to hold on for dear life at the end because their shots stopped falling. When they're on though there's really nothing you can do to slow them down. Their semi-final against Wheatley might be the most entertaining game down there since the Lincoln-Wheatley semi-final in 1997 that Lincoln won 86-85. Those two teams could've played 10 more times and never been more than 2 or 3 points apart. I hope this game is as good as that one was.

This is probably the most apt comparison that you can come up with to describe them. Gosh that LMU team was amazing to watch with Paul Westhead at the helm. I still sometimes wonder if they could've found a way to upset UNLV in the regional final to avenge a loss to the Runnin Rebels (they began the season with an 11 point loss to UNLV) had Hank not died just three weeks prior to that after collapsing at mid-court after a dunk. I wonder how many folks remember that in the regional semi-final they beat defending national champion Michigan 149-115. You'll never see a score like that again in an NCAA tournament game.

IMO 4a is always the most exciting to watch in Austin. 1a and 2a teams are usually fundamental and sometimes boring, a lot of 3a teams are too. But 4a teams like SOC look like pure athleticism. 5a is a combo of the two.

Southwest is really hard to defense, they take shots so quick and have so little regard for running set plays its not funny...they will shoot 3's from 25+ feet and make them....no way you can defense that...they usually get off to quick starts and force you to play their style...it's hard to play a slow down type game on them because they normally jump out quick.....

67 points is their low mark..
