Congratulations to Silsbee for winning today, and to HJ for a consecutive long run in the playoffs.

Silsbee, now it is your turn to bring a state trophey back to SE Texas. :) Good luck!

Do we know the entire field yet? Or is the Region 1 game late tonight?

Silsbee's last appearance was in 1983, 25 years. The Tigers have had several teams in those 25 years that were very capable of being there, but it just didn't work out for them. Glad to see them back. Good luck and bring home the title.

Silsbee has never had a one-armed player. You are thinking about Beaumont Hebert. When they won the state championship in '82 they had a one-armed player. Barker was his name.

Silsbee is playing some great ball for a 2nd place team. Did they have some injuries that slowed them down during district play?

Actually, Silsbee tied with HJ for first. Then HJ won the game to settle the playoff seeding. Now, Silsbee has won the game which counted the most. Last year it was HJ beating Silsbee at the finals for the trip to Austin.

The district was much tougher than might appear. There was also a tie for third place, which also required a playoff. And those two teams also had games where they played the top two teams very close. Silsbee and HJ are battle tested teams as their success in the playoffs demonstrate.

I remember Diboll had to get by Silsbee in the regional final a few years ago. They seem to reload every year, good luck to them!

Yes, Silsbee, and HJ also seem to reload every year in basketball. It has been that way for decades.

Congrats to HJ for another great year, and congrats to Silsbee for advancing to Austin. That area was loaded in roundball this year.
