The year kicked off with the football team rebounding from two straight 3-7 seasons with a 7-3 finish in the regular season, and a 9-4 overall record, having beat Needville and Jasper in the playoffs before losing to eventual state champion Liberty Hill.

So far, basketball has continued the trend. The girl's basketball team capped off their sixth straight district championship, while keeping their 60-game district and 64-game home winning streaks alive. They continued their winning ways Saturday with a win over Fairfield on a buzzer-beating 3-pointer to advance to the state tournament Thursday vs. Canyon. The boy's basketball team won their 5th straight district title (I believe), going 10-0 in district play. They advanced to the Regional Quarterfinal game vs. Hardin-Jefferson for the second straight year with a win over Orangefield last Friday. We'll see where they go from here.
