Diboll picked up a 3-2 win over defending state champion Jasper. Ruby, who was celebrating his 18th birthday, pitched four innings, allowing four hits, no walks, seven strikeouts and two runs. He also hit a two-run homer in the first inning.

Gaard pitched the final three innings, allowing no hits and no walks.

Jasper had the tying run on third when Prescott recorded the assist to Chance Johnson for the final out.

Other hitters for Diboll were Faustino Salaiz (1 double) and Prescott, Soliz and Stifle (1 single).
