So what were the official cut off numbers? 985 was the lowest number I saw in 4A.

Whats up with Houston Kashmere being in 4A with 533....that is weird

I know the ISD's with multiple HS's are able to opt up but give me a break...there is no reason to opt up with 533 kids. You are putting hte kids in a HORRIBLE situation. School District should think about the kids instead of trying to save money...

With Gilmer at 701 and Liberty Hill at 704, that was a pretty even matchup as far as enrollments are concerned.

Also, it's highly likely that China Spring will be DI with 609 and Brownwood will be DII with 901. Paris, by the way, sets up to be the largest DII school at 934.5 if Paris North Lamar makes the playoffs.

I know how you can get say 560.5 students BUT HOW DO YOU GET 892.92 or whatever Bryan Rudder had?

From UIL:

New schools:
Schools opening or entering competition in the first year of an alignment period will have their conference
placement determined by the following procedure:
a. Opening or entering with 1 grade: Enrollment (projected or actual) multiplied by 2
b. Opening or entering with 2 grades: Enrollment (projected or actual) multiplied by 1.33
c. Opening or entering with 3 grades: Enrollment (projected or actual) multiplied by 1.33
d. Opening or entering with 4 grades: Enrollment (projected or actual)

Rudder had 829.92

Divide that by 1.33

Rudder had 624

Houston had 7 schools that had 3A numbers but they all opted up to 4A.

Breckenridge could double their enrollment and still not be the biggest school in their district.

and that REALLY doesn't make any sense. You can't really claim the $$ issue when you'd still be playing each other in a 3A district.

thats sad....telling those students its more important for them to save money then it is to give them a chance to be competative and successful!

That would have made a complete district, so this makes no sense at all. Of course with it being Houston, I guess some of those schools could be 40+ miles apart. Still thats a lot closer than most of us have to travel most of the time.

Throw in traffic, and you're right about their travel.

In a repeat of 2006, Austin I.S.D. made Austin Reagan and of all teams Austin Johnston remain 4A even thought they had AAA numbers.

The UIL needs to review each of these 'playing up' requests on a school by school basis. I know when the realignment was done in 2006, Johnston was taken out of 18-AAA and kept in 4A creating a scheduling hassle for the other teams in 18-AAA.

For a school that has enough trouble keeping a football team solvent, you'd think they'd want to drop a class for at least a couple of years and have a chance to compete.

At this rate we'll be 2A within the next two realignments. Oh well Lincoln will just have to move down and take our place as their enrollment continues to decline as well.

The suburbs. The neighborhood is still in the process of being rebuilt and it's taking a good long while to do it. The stigma attached to the neighborhoods within South Dallas is still mainly negative. The ones around Madison like 4 Deuce, Park Row, as well as Dixon Circle down towards Lincoln can still be pretty rough. Most families that can afford to have moved out to more desirable neighborhoods.

Former City Councilman Leo Chaney, a Madison graduate, tried his best to bring about sweeping change, but Laura Miller never was all that interested in urban renewal. I think Carolyn Davis has that city council seat now and she's also a Madison graduate so maybe something good will happen. I just hope someone younger who is interested in politics will pick up the fight for the folks around Madison and Lincoln and get more housing built in the area. Lord knows there's plenty of abandoned lots in the area that would be good for housing developments.

Why did Palestine drop by around 50? More parents couldn't be sending their kids to Westwood could they? Or maybe they just have a grade with a small class ...
