its a 27 hole individual tournament in meridian - its only $40 - thats for entry, cart, and green fees....i think skins are $5 more...

its a tournament they have every year called the frostbite open - they play rain or shine or snow or sleet or whatever - the only thing that might move the tee time up is frost on the green.....

worth the risk??

Hey if I didn't have a trip to Lbk planned for this weekend I'd join you in a heartbeat. I LOVE playing golf in the rain. The weak give up or don't show at all. I'm guessing this is at Bosque Valley??? Three times through the same 9 holes in one day??? Plus it's a Par 36 @ only 3000 yards from the tips and rates to 34...so get out there and go low.

And like hops said...take a bunch of towels. I would also take 2 cheapo toothbrushes to get the mud out of your grooves.

jason
02-15-2008, 10:13 AM
yeah, you play 9 holes from each set of tees....

and the creek that runs through the course is a free drop - no penalty lol....

its definitely just a fun tournament - they even flight it AFTER everybody is done...

they put the scores in order from best to worst, and say there are 30 people playing...

they will take the first group of 10 and have 1st 2nd 3rd...

then the 2nd group of 10 - 1st 2nd 3rd

then the last group of 10 - 1st 2nd 3rd and D.A.L.

a few years ago i played TERRIBLE, got 2nd in the last flight and won like $300 haha...

Hey, Golf is an all-weather sport. I do draw the line, however, on quarter size or larger hail. Small, pea size hail is not a problem, but a football helmet makes it more pleasant. Also, playing during an earthquate is Ok, but it makes putts hard to read.

playing golf in soggy socks absolutely sucks...you end up so blistered and pruny by the time it's over.

I will play in almost any weather but I don't like to play in a cold rain. My biggest problem is keeping a good grip on the club.

I played in a torrential down pour once and could not keep my grips dry. An old man in the group was using extra strength women's hair spray on his grips every hole to keep them tacky. It worked really well.

Golfsmith has a cart cover on sale for $79.99. Go buy one and you can use it whenever you need it or you can send it to me because mine needs replacing.

I am thinking of quiting though. I won the handicap club championship and I am shooting consistently around 2 to 4 over but the guy I play with (club champion) is shooting lights out. Sunday he shot 65 and bogeyed 9 and 18. Yesterday after work I shot 72 and he shot 67. I feel like I shot 100.

I played on Super Bowl Sunday in a four man scramble and we won it with a 15 under but I hurt myself on one tee where they had a contest to get your name in on a drawing. You had to kick a football off a tee into a designated area. Please remember this: If you have hernia surgery DO NOT kick a football for at least a couple of months. It hurts!

a yucky weather day at golf is still better than cleaning house or the cleaning out the garage - I say go for it ;) If the weather gets too bad, you could drive down here and help us make sausage all weekend :D

I've paid more to play in worse conditions, so I'd say yes.

Tin Cup,

Coach Sherman told me that you............ never mind I better not post it since this is your first post. Speaking of latex gloves, I played golf with my proctologist one time and he wore latex gloves, and it made me kind of nervous when I put my tee in the ground.

jason

well we got pretty lucky with the weather - it never got super cold or and we only had about 15 minutes worth of umbrella-worthy rain - had about a 45 minute span where my rain jacket kept drizzle off me, had some trouble keeping grips dry...

but with the conditions - the moisture, mud, and wind - 86 was good enough for 3rd...

and on our first hole, a long par 4, i put 2 out of bounds for a crowd pleasing 9....

oh well, i won my money back...

CenTexSports
02-17-2008, 09:17 AM
I think you got it wrong. I don't think you have the testosterone to play. You probably think your hunting buddies will call you a wus.

It takes a real man to admit that golf is hard and that you don't have the skill or hand eye co-ordination to be any good. Real men like Tony Romo love golf.

catdaddy
02-17-2008, 02:10 PM
You are correct. The testosterone level cut-off for golf is at 250 ng/dl (eunuch). Mine's way beyond that...i just prefer things turned up to 11 http://www.mysmiley.net/imgs/smile/party/party0031.gif
