I was just looking over some of the updated team histories that WOS87 posted and found the following interesting.

1986 WOS beat McKinney in the championship game
1987 WOS beat Rockwall in the championship game
1988 Paris beat WOS in the championship game

In 1986/87 McKinney, Rockwall, and Paris were in the same district!

In 1988 Paris went east in realignment.

Paris lost to McKinney and Rockwall in nondistrict!

So if the district would have been the same Paris probably wouldn't have even made the playoffs!

It gets even stranger....

2000 WOS lost to Ennis in the championship game

In the late '70's and early '80's Ennis was ALSO in the same district as Rockwall and McKinney....

I guess we're destined to always faceoff against teams from the same small area of northeast Texas

I thought it was kind of interesting.

It really emphasizes the importance of realignment.

I wonder which school could benefit like Paris did from this year's realignment.

That should've been us losing to WOS in 1987.:bigcry:

I'm sorry. I'll get over it eventually with a little more time.:(

No...Hops was called for an unnecessary clip on the backside of the play on what would've been a long touchdown run to put Sweetwater ahead late in the 4th quarter. Instead...Sweetwater loses and the town voted unanimously to banish Hops to Snyder for the rest of his years...only allowing him to return to the Mustang Bowl to watch playoff games after Sweetwater has been eliminated.

No. We had the ball at Rockwall's 13 yard line down 13-6 with
39 seconds left. We have the best RB in the history of
Sweetwater football in the backfield. What do we do? Pass.
Our RB and Rockwall's LB catch it simultaneously at the goal line. The LB
wrestles it away from our RB. Rockwall runs out the clock game
over.:(
