Newton's first drive stalled. Fairfield had to punt on their first drive and the snap went into the end zone for a safety.

On Newton's next drive they worked their way to the Fairfield 1-yard line and fumbled. Fairfield recovered the ball to end the first quarter 2-0.

Fairfield punted on fourth down and Newton's Sammy Adams took the ball to the Fairfield 15. Then, on 1st & 10, Ty Hopkins carried to the Fairfield 8. With 5:52 left in the first half, Ty Hopkins went in for Newton's first TD of the evening. The PAT was good.

Ty Hopkins scored again with 1:48 left in the half. On this drive, Hopkins gained good yardage and Quarterback Joe McLemore connected to Stiffon Ethridge for good gains.

Newton, in the third quarter saw good gains by Stiffon Ethridge, Ty Hopkins and QB Joe McLemore. Hopkins gets the TD from the 1-yard line with 2:45 left in the quarter. The PAT was good.
