Was there any explanation on why the goal to make it 3-1 right before halftime was taken off the board?

I had to run down to the store right before halftime so I didn't see it, but it may have been offsides??? That can take a goal away real easy. If it was on a breakaway, it's probably what happened.

Great game. Wish I could've been there.

BTW, for those who were wondering, the game finished in a 2-2 tie.

it was an offsides call, which was very questionable.

ok so i posted this on another board about the game (i was there) but i didnt feel like writing it all over again, its obvious i know pretty much nothign about soccer but this what i thought, first part was in reply to some other people saying that was their first game:

that was my first soccer game, too...maybe the US is gaining fans since it seems that is the case for a couple of us....i was kinda pissed that it ended in a tie though, i dont like ties but oh well thats the way the sport goes...

gotta be honest, it was fun but i got really annoyed at mexico players falling down all the freakin time, having the game stopped, ball put where player fell down and then starting back up...they better be happy they have soccer cause any other sport with that kinda balance would be impossible to play...it was aggravating to say the least, but anyway the goal that got called back i have no idea what was going on, but i wont even pretend like i understand soccer, probably obvious from what i said about the game this far into the post...

and is it normal for the opposing fans to throw crap at players when they get near the corner? that seemed for lack of a better soccer word "bush league" and very classless....i dunno if we throw crap at their players or not but i didnt see any, it was obvious they were throwing stuff at our guys...

in the end though, i did find it funny that the mexicans still cant beat us at a game they so obviously care so much about and americans in general couldnt give a crap about, its a shame come world cup time our best athletes play other sports or we could be really good at soccer too...

Just to give you a quick rundown:

A.) Glad that you made your first soccer game. Hope it's not your last. It's actually my favorite sport to watch.

B.) When they fall down like that, it's usually strategy. Even if they don't get a foul call, they can stop play (or add to "stoppage time") and rest up a player or two who's been winded.

C.) Yeah. It's normal. It's like attending a game at Tech every day of the year. And maybe that's why I like soccer so much. The fans are a little rougher around the edges than other sports. Definitely more passionate.

You know, you're right. I should amend my statement. It's the preferred sport of Communists and Communist Sympathizers.

Two soccer fans shot outside ReliantThursday, February 07, 2008

| 5:39 AM HOUSTON (KTRK) -- Two people were shot during a fight after last night's game between the U.S. and Mexico.
It happened just outside Reliant Stadium on Kirby and Murworth. Officers say two men were leaving the soccer game, when they got into a fight with another man. That person pulled out a gun and shot them both.
One was hit in the leg and the other was shot in the back. They were both rushed to a hospital with serious injuries.
No word yet on what the group was fighting over or if it had anything to do with the soccer match.

i heard that too, from the post above it was on the other side of reliant from where i was...i had no probs w/ all the mexican fans and i was wearing a USA Soccer t-shirt...i have a friend that lives off Fannin so no need to go to the Kirby side (free-parking too yeah!)...anyway there was a ton of mexican fans (obviously) but none of them were rude or anything to me, maybe cause one of my friends was a mexican fan that came along but i had no trouble, my guess is those guys were prolly drunk and being stupid...
