Sam McGuffie might NOT commit to Michigan

According to the Houston Chronicle, he stayed at home today because Cal and A&M have caused him to delay his signing. His fellow teammate told the Chronicle that he talked to him this morning and that he said he was considering A&M and Cal (along with Michigan). So you can say its a pipe dream all you want but if it happens, what are you going to say then?

All I'm saying is provide a source that's NOT an Aggie source. It's commonly held that the Houston media is very pro-A&M. The article you're linking to doesn't even mention Cal...yet McGuffie is only talking Cal and Michigan. Besides, newspapers and TV stations are the worst sources of information. They have little to no first hand info and they get their info hours and often times a day or two AFTER it's available through premium recruiting sites.

If you spend enough time on recruiting sites and you will see that A&M was out of the picture a while back for McGuffie. He's provided numerous quotes that he was going to Michigan. Then once Cal made a late push in the past 2 weeks he's said that he really likes Tedford and it's a hard decision for him. Not once has he brought up A&M when talking to people from Rivals or Scout in recent weeks. It was Michigan all the way...then I'm going to visit Cal but I'm still committed to Michigan...then I really like Cal and don't know what to do today so I'm just going to wait. Where again did he mention A&M again???

Take off the maroon glasses and look at the facts. You think that I'm being a jackass because you can't answer my questions honestly. You prefer to stick to "well this pro Aggie newspaper says this" and "this pro Aggie TV station says this"...yet you can't provide one bit of unbiased, first hand inform that says he's interested in A&M.

Once you can show me a quote where McGuffie says he's interested in A&M...then I'll believe it. Until then, I'll stick to the multiple quotes of:

1. Dave Campbell is past his prime. He's not somebody that's exactly "in the know" near as much as he used to be. His name carries a lot of weight but he's nowhere near as "inside" Texas football as he was when he still ran his magazine.

2. So it's hard to believe that a media outlet that is naturally trying to write about A&M wouldn't slightly modify a story to include A&M to generate interest??? The basis for their claim could simply be, "He visited A&M and at one point expressed interest in A&M...and he never said he WASN'T interested." Of course he MUST be interested in A&M if he hasn't said otherwise.

3. When the kid is quoted today as saying he's deciding between Michigan and Cal (in a link that you posted) I don't think that 3rd hand sources know more about what he's thinking than he does. Having watched 2 kids switch from Tech in the last 24 hours to play with their buddies...I agree that friends can influence him. Of course his teammate would want him to go to A&M. However, until McGuffie says he's interested in A&M then I'm not buying it...regardless of what somebody else says they've heard or been told.
