I voted Lone Star Texas only because they didn't have a design with a UFO over Stephenville or where ever the heck that was.

Did you know that before 1970 in Texas you had to have you new inspection sticker by April 15th every year. That was when they all expired. Besides taxes people rushed that day to get the annual inspection sticker. Beginning in 1970 they started having it done once a year on the month they expired as they do today.

In 1970 they came up with trying to encourage everyone to get their cars inspected in January because they were colored burnt orange and UT had won the NC in 1969. I was one of the ones that went on ahead and got mine inspected in January even though I lost a few months by not waiting till the April 15th deadline. :)

Also, before 1977, all registration stickers (then stuck on the plate itself) expired Dec. 31 each year. It changed to a staggered date based on birthday and you had the choice of 12 months or 18 months if you were born in Dec. Later changed to date of purchase.

I took 18 month and of course got transferred out of Texas long before expiration. Of course back then, annual fee was about $24.

I'm surprised that we didn't have an option that had the #s, and then below it ......... "The Celina Bobcat State" :D :D

That would be the one I would vote for.

Best guess is Texas will go to seven digits out of necessity, as in California. Too many vehicles chasing too few available numbers when limit is six digits. They already have five digit "special plates".

None of them jumped up and grabbed me either. Lone Star, with Natural a close second, were the best choices to me.

Looks to me like we're going to have the Lonestar plate starting next year. The margin is outgrowing the margin of error in predictability in a hurry!

I kind of wish they would have done this tournament style, because I liked the Traditional one the best, but given a choice now that I know what the results are looking like, I'd have preferred the natural.
