Could this be the UIL's way of getting back at 3a?

I had heard the comissioner wanted to do 4 teams qualification system for playoffs like 4a and 5a. However, the 3a superintendents voted against it, and the commish was going to get back one way or another. So by putting all these teams together, esp with so much top-25 talent, he could force the issue to make schools vote for the 4-team?

I know its pretty conspiracy-theory, but it does make sense.

I believe that there is a 2 week period for schools to appeal their alignment then it is either 1 or 2 weeks while the UIL rules on the appeals. Then schedules can be set. Probably by the end of the month for sure.

Nope balance and location were big factors this time. Maybe if people would stay in West Texas things might be different. But people are going where the jobs are. I can assure you there is no "getting back" at anyone. And there will be 4 teams in 3A in the playoffs one day. And we will have a common site football championship telecast on tv. The goal is and has been money. TV money. Putting enough teams in dist to have 4 playoff qualifiers is another reason they filled up the district more this time. Conspiracy throey? No Also dont forget regional sites are now differnt for some. You better put more in the budget for travel.

The Wylie home side holds around 4500, the visitors around 1500. With the new additions that are slated to be made it should seat around 8500. Parking will be the real issue.

I will say this about Breckenridge. If you've never had the pleasure of watching a high school football game in Buckaroo Stadium then your missing out on a treat.

Cozy yes, but the atmosphere is as good as it gets. Especially when it's full. It's like a hollywood movie setting when it's full. Knock if it you want but I think the Brownwood fans will enjoy the experience, and it seats more than you think.

Gonna love being their.... My daughter is a cheerleader (hope she makes it here senior year) and I know she will love being closer to the field than in some of the stadiums we have been playing in. It makes the girls feel like more a part of the game.

She played softball there as a freshman and a sophmore and we really enjoyed the people. Look forward to the football now!!!

Well HER exact quote was approx 6600, so she may have meant including standing room (sorry she didn't give me the 'weed' dealer). Possible reason though (just coming up with ideas): Mustang Bowl is definitely MUCH MUCH bigger, but how many actual seats are there? Looking at the pictures, it seems Sweetwater's visitor stands go from 15 to 15, and home 5 to 5. I know for a fact Breck's bleachers go from endzone to endzone, both sides.

I guess my question would be, do people sit outside the actual bleachers? Is that allowed? If so, it may not be included in the official capacity. Also, since texasbob was incorrect with Breck's seating, how can we be sure its not the same for Sweetwater?

Just thoughts-- you don't have to insult the information given; questioning will be perfectly ok.

Brownwood has a lot of fair weather fans. If the Lions are winning, we'll pack out a stadium, if not... we won't have 1,000 fans travel to an away game. We always fill the home side of Gordon Wood. When we played Waco in the Quarterfinals year before last, we played at Floyd Casey in Waco, and the Brownwood fans outnumbered the Waco fans by a pretty good amount, might have had a good 6,000+ there just on our side.

im guesstimating 500 seats per section, there are 8 sections on the home side, 6 on the visitors side. total seats estimated 7,000 plus standing room up top, and sitting room that people can and do take advantage of when necessary. ive seen a game(stephenville vs andrews years ago) where the bowl was completely full, when they stopped taking tickets at halftime i think they said there were around 10,000..... then half of sweetwater showed up when they heard the noise. awesome atmosphere indeed....probably the best high school atmosphere ive ever witnessed.

Oh now dont get your panties all in a wad over me having a little fun (on insults intended). Better get a little thicker skin if your gonna stay on here, it can get a whole lot rougher, but its still all in fun. At least for me it is.
Anyway, we were talking "seating capacity", not standing room. I think the 6500 seating capacity is probably pretty accurate for the bowl, unless you want to include seating around the concrete at both ends, which there is really no way to measure. But if you do include that area and all the standing room, it is somewhere between 10,000 and 12,000 is the estimate. Problem is, there is nowhere near enough parking for the cars to carry that many people. It has more parking than many high school stadiums, but still not nearly enough.

There is an awesome picture hanging at city hall that is an ariel view of the bowl during the Stephville vs. Andrews playoff game back in the 80s or 90s. The bowl was completely packed, and some have estimated that one to be about 15,000. Truth is, nobody really knows for sure.

Any mention of weed pisses me off; apologies for taking it the wrong way.

Honest question to any Sweetwater; how many rows up in the stadium. I feel your stadium holds more than 6500, because I do feel fairly confident Breck seats close to that amount.

I could be wrong, though. Any number that can be provided will help with explanations.

The Stephenville-Andrews game was in 1998. One of the best games I have ever been to. Was a shame that it was the first round - Stephenville ROLLED through the playoffs after squeaking by that Andrews team.
