North of town....

KVUE story (http://www.kvue.com/news/top/stories/012908kvuegrassfire-cb.6df26c06.html)

Hubby thought he would take a shortcut on CR 200 to 183 by Briggs & had to turn around. He advised me to change the channel to KVUE since they're on the way out here. Yeah, I'm sure they'll pre-empt their soap opera for this.

Neighborhoods on the outskirts of town are being evacuated. Over 200 acres so far have burned. :(

At 6:00 the fire had burned around 1200 acres. It started in Burnet County and has jumped to Williamson County (LH's county). The news said 12 fire departments were fighting the thing. Someone didn't heed the wind warnings.................

Just about all of north texas is on fire. They have had fires in Benbrook, Pilot Point, Paradise, etc. The smoke could be seen on radar, and the smoke had blown down as far as Hillsboro. You could actually see it in West this afternoon, with a cloudy haze in the sky.

Heard through fire dept. connections that STARFlight had to fly to Briggs to look for two firefighters in a truck battling the blaze that were lost from command, and were not able to communicate by radio for some reason. Haven't heard the outcome of that situation though. Maybe somebody up that way could find out something and report back.
