They have to borrow it from the Chinese first and most of it will be used to buy more junk from there anyhow.

I remember them doin this a few years ago. I think I got like a $500 check in the mail, or somewhere in that neighborhood.

Yeah, me too. I'm thinking mine was closer to 300. That covered
the electricity and water bill that month.:(

Wont work! The Chinese banking system is in even worse shape than our own, and getting worse by the day. We'll be bailing them out again before long. They are having some big time major problems over there right now. Lots of heads will be rolling soon.

yep. They don't exactly have a legal system...and attorneys don't really exist in the way that we know them here.

600 for single, 1200 for family and 300 per kid. Something is not right with this picture, but I'll take it.

The idea is to pump dollars into the economy by getting this money into the hands of the consumers and then they go consume. The manufacturers then have to produce more, employ more workers, which could then have more purchasing power into the economic maze and it all keeps humming along.

If Bernanke had just left things alone when he increased the interest rates a quarter point every three months for two years, we might not be having his conversation. I know I would have paid between three and five thousand less in home interest over the last two years.

Did you claim your child on your 07 taxes?

I'm getting screwed a few places on taxes this year. I don't think I can claim my student loan interest and I won't get a full refund check. All because some fat cats at my company got really rich...paid us a small bonus...and pushed me a few hundred over the cap!

I think its a terrible idea, personally. If I get a check, its either going into savings or toward debt. Apparently Washington hasn't paid notice to the lack of consumer confidence and spending.

So if I understand correctly, the money given out will simply be an advance on an '08 tax return. Screw that! I'll be sending my check to the gov. My return this year was $199 and won't be much higher next year. The last thing I need is to owe them $600 on top of whatever I may pay or receive next year.
