I took this info off TOC website. I think it's the best plan I've seen so far. It's only for Reg. 1 & 2, but projecting regions 3 & 4 from this is not to hard.

Dist. 2
(open)

Dist. 3
Andrews, Snyder, Greenwood, Lamesa, Seminole, Brownfield

if that plans holds - some Dist. 6 teams are going to be upset about not making the playoffs.....Talk about a MONSTER DISTRICT!

Your right that is a great re-alignment plan TF2.

Makes for great rivals and games other than just Wylie - Clyde.

Your right Dist 6 is a Monster, and I'm a Wylie homer too. But the fact is, it's not any more difficult than the non district schedule we've played the last couple of years. Sometimes you just got to sinch'em up a play:thumbsup:

So Snyder would only have to beat Brownfield, Lamesa, and
Seminole to make the playoffs?

and

Sweetwater would have to beat Breckenridge, Graham, and
Clyde?

I read that Anthony and Clint are going back to 2A, so that pretty much blows that 6 team district out of the water!!

I have been hearing that White Oak and Sabine are dropping to 2A and that New Boston is going to be remaining there.

I here from the Clyde people that they are going 2A. They say there Senior class is very small skewing the numbers down. I think its just wishful thinking. And if that's the district they'd be in, who can blame them! It's very possible to have three top ten ranked teams in that district at the start of the season....

I guess this will put Brownwood with the more logical Burkburnett, and not Glen Rose.

Clyde has been good for how long? 1 year - and that one is questionable.

That's funny. I hadn't heard that at all until one of the
dept. managers here, that lives in Clyde, said the same thing
this morning.

This reallignment plan looks to have a bottom 3A number around 420.

New Boston turned in 446 - they will most likely be in 3A.

White Oak and Sabine both turned in #'s in the 390 range - very unlikely that they will be 3A.

If the bottom number goes any higher than 420 this whole projection (as well as any chance of 6 team districts).

*On a side note, I read a New Boston coach saying that the UIL had called them twice to verify their enrollment number - in the past that has been an indicator of where the cutoff might be. I hope it's not that high but nothing that any of us can do about it.

I like it except the following changes need to be made:
Anthony and Clint to 2A
Greenwood to 1 (Sorry Rangermom)
Levelland to 3
Lubbock Estacado to 4 from 4A

Interesting.. this is what the Brownwood fans have kind of been discussing will happen on brownwoodlions.com. We've been figuring to be placed with Sweetwater, Wylie, etc. The prediction Matt made could happen too though, with Brownwood going east. Brownwood's location makes it easy to go either direction, and looking at the regional maps, Bwood could actually fit in to three of the regions.

I have a strong feeling that with the UIL wanting to eliminate the 4 and 5 team districts this year, we will probably see 4 teams in the playoffs soon in 3A.
They voted it in for 4A. I wouldn't be surprised if it didn't happen in the 2009 season for 3A.

As long as there are so few schools with enrollments in the 500 - 800 range I don't see that happening.

Even with only 3 teams per district qualifying in 3A, a larger percentage of 3A schools made the playoffs over the past two seasons than in 5A with 4 teams per district qualifying.

174 total 3A schools
31 districts x 3 teams = 93 playoff qualifiers
93/174=53.45%

246 total 5A schools
32 districts x 4 teams = 128 playoff qualifiers
128/246=52.03%

The one thing you leave out is the money factor. 5A, now 4A, it will trickle down. 6-man now has two divisions, etc......
It generates more revenue. More playoff games equals $$$$.

Just a reminder. This realignment projection was not mine. Someone on THE OLD COACH posted it. I did think it was very interesting because it satisfied one of the UIL's main goals of not having any 4 or 5 team districts in 3A. Like any projections, there are always going to be some flaws. I just wanted to here what the people on this board thought about it. Obviously, the cutoff #'s will affect it, but I personnally think that this projection will be very close only because I think the cutoffs will be around 440-999 give or take.

What # did Clyde turn in?

Six team districts are best unless you are going to start having four teams in the playoffs then maybe 7.
