The new principal was a junior high principal last year. During this past summer when he got hired at AMS he reassigned Calahan. Then, most recently he hired one of the junior high coaches from the school he was a principal at. Unbelieveable!

Well there you have it folks. The wonder that is DISD politics. I'd say this is surprising, but nothing done in this district is shocking anymore. Two years ago Daniels got the Lifetime Achievement Award at Velt and now this.

Going back a little further than that, when Coach Kidd had retired at Madison after three decades of being the only coach the school had since joining the UIL, the administration at Madison went outside the STATE and hired a guy from Oklahoma over the internal candidate who was hand-picked to be the successor. The worst part is they actually let the PLAYERS sit in on the meetings and have a say in the decision. How over the top ridiculous is that? It took just two district losses for that guy to get fired. The coach that got fired now resides at Hirschi HS and came down here this year to actually play Madison. They then handed the job over to the guy who should've gotten it the first time. First rate district I tell ya. Great administrators all over the place.

It appears almost that you have a better shot at a head job in DISD by doing something at the junior high level instead of helping to resurrect a dormant football program at the high school level.
