A former Brazos Valley band director convicted of sexually assaulting a teenager will get probation.
A Brazos County jury recommended the punishment Friday for William Watson. The 28-year-old was convicted Thursday of two counts of sexual assault of a child.
He could have faced up to 20 years for each of the two counts.
Watson travelled to College Station to carry on a sexual relationship with a 16-year-old student he had first met when both were in Iola.
A judge will decide the terms of Watson's probation in 30 days.
