Palestine posts AD position

PALESTINE — The Palestine athletic director and head football coach position has been posted according to Palestine Independent School District Superintendent Jerry Mayo.
Mayo indicated the job will not be posted for long but must be posted for at least 10 days. According to the PISD Web site, the position will be closed on Monday.
The athletic director and head football coaching position has been open since the reassignment of Glen Tunstall in late November after the Wildcats went 5-5 this season and missed the playoffs for the first time in five years.
According to Mayo, the district has reassigned Tunstall to overseeing the aspects of the PISD elementary P.E. program.
Since the announcement of Tunstall’s reassignment, Booker Bowie has acted as the interim head football coach and athletic director. Bowie spent five years as the Palestine defensive coordinator until he announced his retirement in spring 2007.
Bowie returned to Palestine this year as an administrator but did not coach football.
