DANG!!!!!!!

I think Jeff Streun coached at Greenwood last year...it says Midland ISD, so I don't know if he moved to a Midland school or if they meant Midland Greenwood.

And.....why do you think Doege would want to give up a 4A head coaching job to move to Andrews??

Is the pay that good?? I know Andrews has turned into a little boom town here lately!

Surprisingly, there weren't very many 2A or 3A Head Coaches on the list. Mostly made up of Assistants and Coordinators. I'm sure it pays well, so I'm a little surprised.

Until you said that and I looked back, I thought Doege was Frenship's HC this whole time!!

I would imagine it pays pretty good. There a lot of schools in Texas that pay good money for coaches, and some pay VERY GOOD money!
coaches pay in Texas (http://www.statesman.com/sports/content/sports/stories/highschool/08/27salary.html)

This is an old article, but still, I see $$$$!

a few interesting ones...

- Jeff Cordell...sounds like his trek to 4A didnt turn out too well
- Kent Jackson...for obvious reasons
- Scotty Pugh...former baseball HC at Abilene Cooper and now the OC at Highland Park. Probably wouldn't mind returning to West Texas.

They got lots of great applicants but they can't go wrong if they hire the Skidmore-Tynanne coach.

Doege is an assistant coach, not head coach, at Frenship. He was AD/HC at Crane and moved to get his son into a larger school. Too bad his son was hurt (broken leg) and couldn't play.

That's correct...he blew out both of his knees...one Jr year and the other Sr year. However, he's almost fully recovered from the 2nd surgery and expects to participate in spring practice at Texas Tech (he started school there this week). :D:D:D

"According to Andrews ISD, Springston’s salary was $86,225 for the 2007-08 school year and included the use of a Chevrolet Suburban.

The school district also recently completed work on a $15 million athletic facility that includes two swimming pools, a 2,000-seat gymnasium, a 1,000-seat theater, five dressing rooms for football, one for basketball, a training room and a girls facility."

Wow - Doesn't sound like a bad job.

What makes you think we have a decreasing talent pool? I can guarantee you we have a better talent pool than Andrews. I can't even tell you the last time they beat us in football in any grade.

1. School enrollment is steady.
2. A couple of parents mad because lil' Johnny isn't starting
doesn't constitute local unrest.
3. You think the campus is shrinking?
4. You already know this and the endzones are going to be
taken care of before next season.
5. You're just worried that we might lure away Sandifer.:D

Hire Bruce Ray, current DC at Andrews and Andrews alumni. Just happens he is also married to a hs classmate of mine. They will hire a good one. Great place to be.

1. Talent pool and enrollment are different...
2. Let me look back a year or two here and find all the people ready to run Jackson out of town...
3. The town sure isn't growing (ie bringing in new families)...well unless you count the new Wendy's out on I-20! ;);)
4. It is what it is...
5. Sweetwater would be a pretty big step DOWN for Hugh. Nice try though ;)

5. At this point I believe any coach at any level can be bought.:(

I know that the LaMarque are not to happy with jones name in the hat. They had a shot at getting Lydell Wilson from Lamar Cons. some how Jones won the job.

Went to Sweetwater last year to watch a playoff game. The novelty of the "bowl" was cool, but far from being what I would call a nice 3A staadium. Try these: Kennedale and Gilmer- these are NICE 3A stadiums.

LM would not be happy even if they won. Have heard that due to their low performance on test scores, students can transfer out. Seems to be a problem, some really good, smart athletes are going elsewhere to get a better education. Talent is down at LM. Expectations are WAY TO HIGH. School environment to learn is not REAL GOOD.

You are right but the LM faithful want to compete for the state championship every year,i agree there talent pool is down, and not liking the coach makes things worse. All i know is that alot of people wanted Lydell Wilson to get that job.I think Jones knows next year he has to go at least 3-4 rounds in the playoff to get those people off his back.

Johnny Utah

3-4 rounds deep with even less talent?? Right. LM could drop to 3a, that might help.
