They would have to be better than that

No, they didn't quit playing, but they are losing 7 senior starters, including Will Middlebrooks & Fowler. Not only does that hurt them on the mound, but at the plate as well. They'll be young, but nothing is impossible and I wouldn't count them out!

Also, while having the #1 ranking is nice, IMO it should always go to the defending state champ!!

Pitching is the biggest question for Celina. I was in Dallas one week last year and got to see the Freshman kid Ryan Merritt start and pitch a complete game against Mineola in the playoffs. Did a great job. He will be back. If Robert Rohrer comes back from an arm injury a year ago, he will do well. McCartney can pitch. If younger Bidleman kid develops that will help. So there is potential. I look for Celina to be strong offensively and defensively.

bellville will be very deep on the pitching side. scoring runs may be the problem. coach C. will figure out how to score a few. aside from the 3 returning pitchers, there are said to be two more good ones on the staff. cannot ever have too much pitching. when the playoffs start, with those 2 of 3's, pitching is a big key.

bellville does have a lot of depth! with one returning senior who has been named all district catcher last year and has started since his freshman year, pitcher jo tallerine, third baseman ryan hackemack, and relief pitcher garret huebner, the bulls will be a challenge! With over 70 kids coming out to play, theres a lot of depth in each roster. For the first time ever, there will be a sophomore team, junior varsity, and varsity team at Bellville. with 3 freshman on varsity last year, mueller, honeycutt, and jackson, i think it explains what kind of talent that is coming through bellville's program. As well as in football, there were sophmores in the double digits that started this year for bellville and mueller honeycutt and jackson were of those three as well. With coach cerny's coaching ability and bellville's talent, i think bellville will be a contender to go top 4 this year. Coach Cerny is an amazing coach and he knows his stuff when it comes to baseball.

We received ours Monday, but I think the cover might be regional, as all of the guys are from the coastal bend. I'll have a picture of the cover up on the booster site later this week. :nerd:

Was that part of the "Buy 50" deal he was promoting for the schools?

Could you drop Hutto from the top 20 altogether GWOOD?

I'd rather have the guys play with a little bigger chip on their shoulder than they already seem to have developed at #20.

:D

Texas Baseball News????

Are you talking about the Inside Prep magazine or is this something different. Texas Baseball News was the old name that Becker used.

Cuero at #15. When is the last time you saw Cuero in any kind of baseball rankings? I bet it has been at least 10 years since we have fielded a ranked team. Last year was a good base to build on.

Actually, it's only been 6. They were ranked when my brother and I were seniors....but that was when both Sinton and Yoakum were highly ranked 1 and 2. Cuero was ranked a little back like 9 or 10!

Ended up losing to Sinton that year....who eventually won state with Alaniz pitching!
