Would you fire this college head coach if he were the coach for your university?
Season 1: 2-10
Season 2: 6-7
Season 3: 4-7
Season 4: 7-5
Season 5: 6-6

I would be inclined to.
What was the teams record before the coach arrived?? If they were winless or won only 1 or 2 games a year, I'd probably keep him. But if it was better before he got there, than he's gone.

It wouldn't have taken me that long to take the initiative to fire him. Of course, he greatly improved his teams in the years following...

Considering the previous five seasons were
2001: 3-8
2000: 4-7
1999: 5-7
1998: 4-7
1997: 5-6
21-35 for the previous five years
Mark Mangino's first five season may not have seemed that bad, but still not much an improvement really.
2006: 6-6
2005: 7-5
2004: 4-7
2003: 6-7
2002: 2-10
25-35 for his first five years
My initial inclination would have been to replace him, but in one final season, he now has a 37-36 overall record. 12-1 makes things better quickly. :)
