Not my work..but some fun food for thought. What are the Ags "cheating years?"

Based on the past 6 years actual performance, who has the superior football program - Texas Tech or Texas Agricultural & Mechanical? (Not untapped potential, which is a different question altogether)

According to Ags, no… They have their own deluded reasoning, something to do with birthright and PUF funds I think. In reality, they’ve never been very good in football - outside of their cheating years.

Past Six Years

Texas Tech - 5 bowl WINS (83% win %), 6 bowl appearances
2007 - Win (beat #20 Virginia in New Years Day bowl victory)
Past 6 yrs - 6 bowls (5-1, notable: 45 points in rout of #4 Cal in 2004 Holiday Bowl, 17 point rally in win over 9-3 #20 Virginia in 2007 season Gator Bowl, 2005 Cotton Bowl, 55-15 thrashing of Clemson in 2002 bowl, 38-14 rout of Navy in 2003 bowl, 31 point rally in 2006 bowl to beat Big 10 Minnesota in greatest comeback in bowl history)

2007 9-4 #22? 31-28 Bowl WIN in Gator Bowl over #20 Virginia on New Yrs Day
2006 8-5 - ...... 44-41 Bowl WIN in Insight Bowl over Minnesota (greatest bowl comeback in NCAA history)
2005 9-3 #23.....10-13 Bowl loss in Cotton Bowl to #13 Alabama on New Yrs Day
2004 8-4 #18...45-31 Bowl WIN in Holiday Bowl over #4 one loss Cal
2003 8-5 ..-...... 38-14 Bowl WIN in Houston Bowl over Navy
2002 9-5 ..-...... 55-15 Bowl WIN in Champs Bowl over Clemson

Texas A&M - 0 Bowl WINS (0% win %, 67% debacle %), 2 butt-whippin’ debacles in 3 bowl appearances
2007 - Loss (17-24 loss to unranked Penn State)
Past 6 yrs - 3 bowls, no wins (0-3, notable: 45-10 thrashing at hands of #20 Cal in 2006 Holiday bowl debacle and 38-7 whipping to three-loss #18 Tennessee in 2004 season Cotton Bowl debacle that wasn’t as close as score indicated; 2007 loss to unranked Penn State featured pre-game public humiliation due to defamation of icon Joe Paterno, a bone-headed coaching decision, a crying Javorsky Lane and a booger-eating fan on national TV)

2007 7-6 - 17-24 Bowl LOSS in Alamo Bowl to UR Penn State
2006 9-4 - 10-45 Bowl LOSS in Holiday Bowl to #20 Cal
2005 5-6 - LOSING RECORD - NO BOWL
2004 7-5 - 7-38 Bowl LOSS in Cotton Bowl to #18 three loss Tennessee
2003 4-8 - LOSING RECORD - NO BOWL
2002 6-6 - NO BOWL

Big 12 Conference W-L (2002-2007)
Tech 28 Wins 20 Losses
A&M 22 Wins 26 Losses

HEAD-TO-HEAD
2007 Tech win 35-7 in Lubbock
2006 Tech win 31-27 in College Station
2005 Tech win 56-17 in Lubbock
2004 A&M win 32-25 (OT) in College Station
2003 Tech win 59-28 in Lubbock
2002 Tech win 48-47 in College Station
2001 Tech win 12-0 in Lubbock

Notables:
· A&M has not finished ranked in the final season rankings in the past 6 years; Tech has finished ranked 3 times in the final season rankings in the past six years.
· A&M has failed to record a winning record three times in the past 6 years; Tech has not had less than 8 wins in the past 6 years including three 9 win seasons.
· A&M has not won a bowl game against a team with a winning record since 1995; Tech has 5 bowl wins in the past 6 years.
· A&M has not won in Lubbock since 1993 (15 yrs)
· Tech has won 6 of the past 7 (which includes 3 blow-outs and 1 shut-out) as well as 10 of the past 13 head-to-head matches and will again be favored in 2008 (this is reminiscent of UT’s record against TCU and Rice back in the 70’s when DKR was coaching)

Well, obviously Tech has had the edge the past six years and has put it on us the last few, so what is there to say about it? Congratulations to Tech, and according to Mike Leach, "sometimes a pirate can beat a soldier."

But really now, what's the point? Not all Aggies are delusional or stupid, but I will admit some are, but I bet there are just as many Raider fans who are, or Longhorn fans, or Bear fans, for that matter.

If we are beating Tech in anything, it's in geographic location, because Lubbock just isn't the town to be in. :D
